In recent months, Dolphins outside linebacker Jelani Jenkins has raised the bar for himself on and off the field.
Playing golf and going deep sea fishing for the first time are just the appetizers, the fun stuff.
The serious stuff includes Jenkins, a third-year pro from the University of Florida, amassing a career-best and team-high 110 tackles after unexpectedly becoming a starter last year.
He followed that by spending the offseason going back to school to complete his classroom work in physiology and kinesiology. Now he only needs to complete an internship to get his bachelor's degree.
It's been quite a ride for Jenkins, one of the most cerebral players on the Dolphins. And he's looking to do even more, especially on the field, where he was one of the team's most effective defenders.
