not sure if this is just "turning over every stone" or if there's genuine interest. this kid is intriguing, though.

No question the Fins will try and get several more 6th and 7th rounders . . . and I wouldn't be shocked at all to draft a QB with one of those picks.

I just don't want to see one in the 2nd round for the 6th time in 7 years.
 
Yeah I absolutely expect the Dolphins to look for a QB with one of those 6th or 7th rounders. They did a lot of work before the season on Billy Cundiff of Ashbury, so he's one to watch.

I really like Tyler Sheehan of Bowling Green, feel he's underrated.
 
what for? the practice squad? We have 3 young QBs already
 
I can see them taking someone in the 6th or 7th but LeFeavour won't be a late round pick, imo.

In a sense . . . yea, why not.

I mean I know people feel when a 6th or 7th rounder does NOT make the team, they call it a wasted pick . . . like every team has every draft pick make the team at the end of preseason.

I definitely wouldn't mind developing a young QB on the PS, and who in the hell knows, maybe we catch lightning in a bottle and the kid can become a competitor.

I mean say we had another game after Pittsburgh, and White and Henne were injured and unavailable, it sure would be nice to bring that youngster off the PS and have him back up Thigpen . . . I mean unlikely, yea, but it doesn't do no harm.

We have one in Henne.

Pat White could'nt even complete a pass (Maybe he only had 5 attempts but lets get real) and Thigpen was a mere insurance policy after Penny went down.

Certainly wouldnt hurt to draft one late.
 
Im surprised more dolfans dont know this already, Parcells is close friends with Ron Wolf(in fact Wolf spent time with Parcells when Bill took over the team there was a game I think the Cincy game where Wolf & Parcells where in the press box together).

Wolf has a philosophy of drafting a QB "every" year, he thinks it helps you out organizationaly in two ways 1- protects against injury 2-gives you a position of leverage when it comes to trades.

Basically Wolf is known to while in green bay drafting Brunnell,Ty Detmer,Matt Hassellbeck & trading for Favre I believe he also signed Kurt Warner while in GB(this Im not 100% sure of) so the fact that miami is looking at QB to me is a great sign.

Like pitching in baseball you can never have enough of it,and QB is the key to any football team so find as many quality QB's as you can look at the steelers game if they could have inserted a quality backup instead of White that game may have gone in a different direction.

One last note all dolfans should know that the great Don Shula always had a solid backup for many years...Morral,Strock,DeBurg,Peterson(who was the winning qb for shula when he broke the record) so having a quality backup QB maybe as important as having a quality starting QB.
 
Parcells is never against drafting a QB. Its the most important position on a football field.

I read an article in the past that basically laid out the mold for what Parcells looks for in a quarterback. I dont remember all of the qualifications. But a quarterback that has started for at least two years (perferably 3). They must have graduated from college. A cool collected type guy, who thrives in pressure situations. LeFevour fits the mold.

Dont get me wrong Henne had a great season, and I personally think he is gunna develop into a very good QB at this level. But truth is you never know and if Parcells thinks LeFevour can excel as an NFL QB, and is avalible in the 3rd-6th round range, dont be surprised if Parcells drafts him.

Personally, if I was a GM I would take a QB in the later rounds almost every draft. You never know when you can find your Tony Rome, Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Matt Shaub, Tim Hasselbeck, Kurt Warner type players. I mean take Shaub for example, he was a 3rd round pick in 2004 by the Falcons. They traded him to the Texans, moving up in the first round, and acquired two 2nd round picks. As a talent evaluator it makes too much sense not to draft quarterbacks who you think will excel in the NFL.

Basically an echo of what i said (we must have been typing at the same time). Hitting on a QB adds value to an organization no matter what. A back up, trade bait, injury insurance.

I highly doubt we take one in the first two rounds, but anytime after that dont be suprised.
 
You should always be developing a young quarterback down your depth chart......that's how the Patriots ended up getting draft picks for Matt Cassell...

But I doubt that guy is LeFevour......his arm is almost Graham Harrell weak....he's a another system quarterback that struggles to get the ball past 20 yards downfield...

The better idea is to grab a big, strong armed pocket passer that transitions more to the pro game....(John Skelton, Levi Brown, maybe even a Matt Nichols or Ryan Perriloux)...
