Dolphins Love DT Jonathan Allen - Our Big FA Fish?

Getting a little overboard with the injury stuff. Find me 53 guys to make a football team that have played 8 years and don’t have an injury history, it’s a violent game. Hes missed 12 games in the last 7 years, hardly injury prone and just about all of those were last year with a torn peck, it happens. Much different from like an armstead who’s missed that in the last 3 years.
"Hes missed 12 games in the last 7 years" That is an Ironman on the Miami Dolphins!

Coming off 18 million a year deal, open market and given what wilkins and the cowboys DT just got for being a 4 sack a year guy probably 20 million range. Coming off injury and older so hopefully less. Depends on the market, teams may be hesitant as it’s a historically deep DT draft class so maybe we get lucky.
I agree with Marino1384. Signing this guy for more than Sieler is not a good look. Go younger and cheaper by finding one in the Draft, or trade Tyreek for one.

Gotta love the go win on a shoestring budget concept. Big FAs cost money. Too many roster spots to fill in draft alone and if you get cheap in FA you more often than not find out why those players were affordable.
I don't believe in building a team through Free Agency. I understand you must have some, but the core of the team should be built through the draft. Problem is, we have Grier. Can we trade him?

Do both of you can. Neither Sieler nor Allen are spring chickens.

That said not sure if we would break the bank on this guy after letting a younger Wilkens walk.
Right. Kind of like moving down in the draft to acquire extra picks, then trading those picks to move back up....wait, didn't we already do that?

It’s a tough decision because free agency is on Monday and the draft isn’t for 6 weeks, and you don’t know how the board will fall.

It’s a matter of where do you want to allocate money

In this draft Grier must pick three starters to fill some of the many holes
In Free Agency, I predict Grier goes OG, DT and CB. Not saying what the quality will be, but I predict he signs guys for those positions.

Gives me Suh vibes. We really gonna fall for this again?

The draft is loaded with cheap DTs. Allen is gonna want 20 million a year. I donno maybe I'm wrong but this feels vary "same old Dolphins" to me.
Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with your assessment as to why they let him go. Washington has a very competent GM in Adam Peters, who got his Qb right in his first draft. He will probably find a cheaper (rookie contract) and productive player in this draft. It‘s the deference between Peters playing chess and goofball, Grier, playing checkers and chasing his tail!! 😂
Chinese checkers at that!

Need to build your core through the draft and then supplement with FA's. Fins dont draft well and they then end up relying on FA's. Recipe for disaster which we have all seen play out for more than 2 decades.
Damn dude, we get the point.

Haters gonna hate.

Umm again has nothing to do with signing players. Umm or have you not figured that out yet
It does matter because why would you pay that kind of money to a player when they wouldn’t see the lion share of the snaps?

That’s a good plan, I do think with only 2/5ths of your starting secondary you have to find a starting safety to paid with a rookie

At some point because you started with needing 8 starters he will have to find rookies that start and safety is one of those.

Basically it’s a given he must find a starting g safety in the draft, I’m pretty sure

So while we wait on them drafting good players, they shouldn’t be signing good players in FA?

I forgot Safety! As long as we don't draft the UGA Safety in the 1st!
