I know that there are many examples of poor reporting, but this one struck me as so speculative and amazing that in the short snippett, jason cole even lets you know that there is no reason to believe what he just said. In the Herald yesterday he wrote the following about a push for Ma'ake Kemoeatu:
PUSH FOR DT

"The Dolphins appear to be making a strong move for unrestricted free agent defensive tackle Ma'ake Kemoeatu, who could demand a contract in the range of five years for $20 million.
Agent Ken Vierra said he has not had any conversations with the Dolphins about Kemoeatu, but he expects many teams to show interest in the Baltimore run-stuffer. Kemoeatu is considered a prototype nose tackle for a 3-4 defense, and the Dolphins are in need of a young player for that spot after using veteran Keith Traylor most of last season.
The Dolphins also have had 12-year veteran Sam Adams in for a visit, indicating they are examining options there."

Read the two highlighted parts. The amount of unsubstantiated speculation out there this time of year relating to free agency and football is unbelievable.

We need this guy to fill the "unpronouncable name" void vacated by Ogunleae.

Yeah, Adawale's name is spelled very wrong above.

forget Sam Adams, he's old. I want THIS GUY, Ma'ake Kemoeatu!!

Sam Adams is huge obviously, and taking him from Buffalo would make our games against them so much easier, lol. But Sam is getting old and wont last long...i just dont understand WE NEED to get younger...Ma'ake is 27, and in a few years he will be alongside Manuel Wright which is awesome. We still have Keith Traylor for another year or two. i say forget Adams, i also say forget Mawae and go for that Center from Tennesse, Justin Hartwig??

The Phins may be ramping up to grab him. But beyond that, it's spec. They can't negotiate directly with him until tomorrow.

Where we need to get younger (and better) is in the depth dept. There's nothing wrong with having guys in their 30's that can still play at a high level as long as there's replacements in the wings.

You don't sacrifice quality for youth just for the sake of getting younger unless you're rebuilding.

all talk of free agents should be speculation at this point, right? the only exceptions are mawae, madison, people who were cut...

the phins will need somebody to take traylor's NT spot eventually, and that person isn't on the roster at the moment, i don't think.

To many rumors going on today, it's driving me crazy,I'm going outside and staple my fingers together so i can not type on the computer anymore

Good.

This is the type of player we need to spend our FA money on.

Young, Huge, on the upswing of his career and HEALTHY.

I'd rather build a tremendous offensive and defensive line and shore up our defense than spend the $$$ on question marks at QB again.

Restructure Frerotte, bring in another solid veteran (kitna) and draft Brodie Croyle. Build an overpowering O and D line and go from there.

the way all this is playing out, we're getting into a bidding war over two guys who are huge risks injury wise. I'm all for signing Brees, but only at a discounted contract (to compensate for the risk) and a contingency clause in there. If New Orleans is going to throw money at Brees wrecklessly, then I say back out. That's not the smart way to go.
