This offseason, the Miami Dolphins traded away their starting left tackle from 2016 in Branden Albert, sending him to the Jacksonville Jaguars basically to acquire tight end Julius Thomas. It’s not a blockbuster trade that we football fans love to see, but it’ll be a trade that will work out in Miami’s favor.

What we got is another often injured player.

The two trades were the best moves of the offseason...we essentially moved up in the 7th round and gave up a 6th for Hayes and Julius Thomas, with both renegotiating their deals to save us some money.... A+ work from Tannenbaum there.

Uuuunnnnfortunately the Branch deal was an F, the Timmons deal gets a D, and the Kiko deal is a C-

I really hate blog posts that reference other blog posts.

Why do you mention this in every single comment about the defense? And no, the Branch deal gets a C, the Timmons deal gets a B and the Kiko deal gets a B.

Did you know that over the past two years, Andre Branch has more sacks than Jason Pierre Paul, who just got a 4-year, 62 million dollar contract?

At bare minimum we should we really reserve grading these deals until after the season or contract to compare the production post signing.... You say the Branch deal was an F.... What if he ends up with 10 sacks this season? That's unlikely but you never know what's going to happen....

Did you know that over the past two years, Branch has played 29 games and tallied 9.5 sacks...to his credit, he has done this with 10 working fingers and no club worn to protect any missing fingers that he may have had.

On the other hand (no pun intended), JPP has played 20 games and tallied 8 sacks. To his credit, he got 7 sacks in a 12 game span, while wearing a club around his entire damaged hand that prevented him from wrapping up anyone.

So how is it Branch's fault that JPP did something stupid? What I'm saying is, JPP's production dropped off to below where Branch is and got a much larger contract.

Nevermind that JPP played 4 less games than Branch last season and had 1.5 more sacks than Branch...with one hand.

They should have a 'sack per pass play' stat so those of us with multiple interests can somewhat more accurately have an opinion. I want to grade too, dammit.

When did Yahoo begin to employ third graders to write articles for them? Does anyone know where I can pick up an application to write for yahoo? I am clearly qualified.

Seriously, man?

You pick the time frame where JPP blew his hand off -- and use that as a favorable comparison for Branch?

Only proves the point more about Branch: He's about as good as a hand-less JPP.

Well this thread got off track quick. One good thing about Branch is he hasn't blown his hand up screwing around with fireworks. So there is that.

Regarding the topic. Yes, I think we got a steal. Albert is still good but clearly on the decline. Thomas seemed not to give a crap in Jax but who would. Gase knew how to get the all to Thomas to make him productive in Denver and I'm sure he has an idea this time around.

Only dolphins fans would find a reason to complain about acquiring a former All-Pro tight end who took a paycut. Then jettisoned an aging oft injured tackle with a huge salary who is currently holding out. Then only giving up a seventh round pick. God forbid our offense only get better from the move.

C'mon you guys
