Plan was for #Dolphins to meet with the reps for Jonathan Martin in Indianapolis. My understanding is that meeting happened. Process begins

Martin's parents are doing him a disservice by having him try to get into the NFL again. This won't end well for him. If he is indeed clinically depressed and emotionally unstable, a return to the NFL will only exacerbate the issue. Bottomline, he is not a good player. The anxiety that comes with the failure and embarassment of playing poorly on the field, coupled with all the details that came out in the report, will only increase. He WILL break again, regardless of the "situation" around him... because the problem is with MARTIN not the "situation". Strength comes from within.

“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.”- Buddha

Clearly Martin harbors deep-seated negative thoughts about himself. In the Wells Report, there are several instances where he confides in his mother that he is a wimp, a baby, can't confront others, let people walk over him, wishes he had a girlfriend, etc. He clings to this negative perception of himself.

As long as he holds on to that, the results will be the same. Only he has the power to be affected by external forces, whether that be course language, rough teammates, struggles on the field, etc.

If the Dolphins allow him back on the squad, it would not only be detrimental to the team because Martin is unreliable and a distraction, but also harmful to Martin because he is not yet in a place where he can cope with the stresses of the NFL.

Hopefully it is to tell him to come and get his **** and GTFO!

Why would SF or Indy have ANY incentive to trade for Martin? For one, its obvious we can't really keep him considering the distraction. Secondly, do your really think SF or Indy (2 playoff teams) view Martin as some great prospect who could help them win championships? He is BACKUP material. Why waste a pick on a mentally fragile BACKUP player when they could just draft one without those problems? Doesn't make any sense.

You guys act as if Martin is some talented player that teams would actually want on their team, even with problems. This isn't Ricky Williams we are talking about here...

the idea comes from the fact that both teams openly support Martin and say they would support him on their team. Plus the obvious links to Harbaugh and Luck. However, it could be BS. Guaranteed one of those two teams sign him if we are unable to get a trade done & Martin is cut.... which, like you said, gives them no incentive to trade for him. Offer him for a 5th round pick, then cut him if you get no bites.

You want Martin gone I suppose? why would it hurt to see if we can get rid of him for something? If we just cut him you would complain why didn't we just try and trade him Fire everyone!!!!! lol

I don't care if we cut him, trade him, send him back to college....as long as he is not on the team next year. That is all I want and I am sure mostly everyone wants.

Absolutely TRY to trade him, but people here act as if its a foregone conclusion that he WILL be traded. I think the chances of him being traded are at 5%. I just don't see why anyone would waste a pick on a backup player with serious emotional problems. Harbaugh is supporting Martin to basically cover his ass. I can't see him wanting this guy on his team now. Dude's a ticking time bomb.

IF we somehow manage to trade him, it will be for a 7th Round Pick at MOST.

I can't recall where it was published (Wells Report maybe) that JM said he did not like Miami. Why keep him if he doesn't like the place?

How do we know that Harbaugh, Luck, etc... are genuine and sincere in their public opinion of him?

Someplace like Green Bay, KC, or even San Diego might be a good place for him if he truly wants to continue his career.

Lots of opinions on him and who's to say which are right or wrong. But by this point, it should be no surprise when I opine that most recently Ditka said it best!

He has no trade value. Even if a team wants him, they know that the Phins are ultimately going to release him. That's more or less how the Dolphins got an actual good player like Reggie Bush for nothing.

If this meeting is anything more than how do we end the relationship in the easiest way possible, then the team is truly f'd.
