Martin's parents are doing him a disservice by having him try to get into the NFL again. This won't end well for him. If he is indeed clinically depressed and emotionally unstable, a return to the NFL will only exacerbate the issue. Bottomline, he is not a good player. The anxiety that comes with the failure and embarassment of playing poorly on the field, coupled with all the details that came out in the report, will only increase. He WILL break again, regardless of the "situation" around him... because the problem is with MARTIN not the "situation". Strength comes from within.
“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.”- Buddha
Clearly Martin harbors deep-seated negative thoughts about himself. In the Wells Report, there are several instances where he confides in his mother that he is a wimp, a baby, can't confront others, let people walk over him, wishes he had a girlfriend, etc. He clings to this negative perception of himself.
As long as he holds on to that, the results will be the same. Only he has the power to be affected by external forces, whether that be course language, rough teammates, struggles on the field, etc.
If the Dolphins allow him back on the squad, it would not only be detrimental to the team because Martin is unreliable and a distraction, but also harmful to Martin because he is not yet in a place where he can cope with the stresses of the NFL.
