Davenport played left tackle all throughout his collegiate career at Bucknell and most of his NFL career until injuries decimated that unit, and forced him to play right tackle.

Dolphins offensive line coach Dave Guglielmo speaks to media on Tuesday.

“Looking back at my film from that season my technique was horrible,” Davenport said. “But I got better with time.”

Davenport does need to improve technique, and will likely be given an opportunity to do so in Miami because of how desperate the Dolphins are for starting talent on the offensive line.

Kinda get the sense that the first four games are going to be a glorified training camp. There seem to be a lot of jobs that could still be won or lost. With Tunsil gone Howard is probably the only player that can go into the game confident hes going to be on the field for the majority of the snaps.

It's easily the worst offensive line in the NFL. Honestly, and I'm not trying to be negative, this looks like an expansion team's offensive line. Davenport was the reason Houston desperately wanted to trade for Tunsil. Miami has two rookies starting who are unproven. One is an undrafted free agent. Neither necessarily looked good in preseason, but you never know. Davis is best suited as a sixth lineman, subbing in at guard and tackle. Kilgore is adequate at center. I don't know enough about the players Miami traded for, but that probably adds depth.

My hope is that the unit is better than the sum of its parts.

more like the whole season.....we need to find out what we have at every position....this is the year to do that.

I don't have a problem with any of the cuts or trades done so far, including getting rid of Tunsil (I'm not a fan). My only complaint is that Flores and the Front Office didn't put more effort (and resources) into rebuilding the entire o-line. IMO, building a half-decent o-line should have been the TOP priority during the off-season. It makes no sense to trade for Rosen, but not have an o-line good enough to properly evaluate him.

TBH, I'm more worry about who the starting 5 will be in 2020 as I don't see us having a chance to win many games this year anyway.

Nahhh. Eric Bohemian Rhapsody and Danny Isadora will be pro bowlers

I think Isaiah Prince is the only other Tackle on the roster, so Jesse Davis and Davenport are your RT and LT (or vice versa).

No two ways about it!

Its not as bad as you all think. Deiter, Kilgore. Boehm and Davis sounds average. The LT is the only worry.

Davis was an RT in college, its his natural position.

I thought Davis was a DT in college. Maybe he made the switch before the pros? Either way I’m still rooting for him. I like his attitude and his upside. I just hope he reaches his potential soon.

My impression of the moves this year are to remove progress blockers from the roster while maximizing the return on investment. This allows the coaching staff to accelerate player development. This is the reason Fitz is starting in my opinion. He is a great coach on the field. It does sacrifice Rosen’s development for broad across the board development. For the O-line, the coaching staff invested in developing two rookie guards and Davis as a RT. In the long run, developing young talent will payoff.

Moving deck chairs on the Titantic - we will have 5 new starters on Oline next season

Many will be FAs -

It's not madden. You can't just choose what to upgrade. You can only go after what's available.
