If you want to know how the Miami Dolphins stack up in the AFC East in 2016 you must first consider their recent record against those teams: the Dolphins are 8-16 (.333) against division opponents over the past four years, including a woeful 2-9 (.250) road record.

Since 2012, the Dolphins are 2-6 against the Buffalo Bills, 3-5 against the New England Patriots, and 3-5 against the New York Jets.
Things must change.
And perhaps they will under first-year coach Adam Gase, who brings a new offensive system.
“It’s a fresh start for everyone,” quarterback Ryan Tannehill said.

That’s what the Dolphins are preaching – a fresh start – as they again enter a new era with a new head coach.
Last season, the Dolphins were 1-5 against AFC East opponents, saved only by a 20-10 victory over New England in the regular-season finale. But the Patriots had little to play for after already wrapping up the division and clinching a postseason berth.

Yeah, this has been killing us. You're supposed to be set up to win in your division and we have been very poorly matched up, especially up front on both sides of the ball. We need to WIN at the line of scrimmage. Wake up Jordan Phillips, I am talking to you.

Tannehill has had some of his worst games against the Jets and Bills and some of his best games against the Pats even though we have a losing record against them. A lot of that had to do with the fact the Jets and Bills have overpowering D-lines that just flat out abused our O-line. Couldn't run or pass against them. Let's face it...when comparing the talent we're last in this division talent wise.

Which is kind of weird since we held our own for a few years in a row in NY vs the Jets including a 20-3 victory where we left at least 2-3 scores on the table. Buffalo on the other hand, there were a couple games we won but probably shouldn't have. We have such a huge problem with them... I mean THAD LEWIS!

Didn't he beat us twice?

The 20-3 victory was with Matt Moore wasn't it? Didn't Tannehill get knocked out of that game?

Yes thad lewis beat us...literally running qb designed runs out the nose on 3rd and long because our d was so damn dumb in terms of preparation for tendencies

I have seen geno beat us that way too

I hate to quote Omar but the one thing he says that is right about Us vs AFC East, they figured us out and we could adapt. Tannehill has had his worst games vs the Jets and Bills but we didn't change up anything for those games. Hopefully Gase is able to change the game plan like he says week in and week out.

The Patsys just cut Pot Roast - worth kicking the tires?

He would be but this scheme looks completely geared around getting upfield...

Not eating up double teams...

It would be ideal to adjoin the two. If Joseph would 2 gap the shaded nose it would greatly help Kiko & co in sorting thru the trash, or not having too. I believe I saw Phillips playing 2 gap on a few occasions in wk 3 but there's also the possibility he just got stood up.
