If you want to know how the
Miami Dolphins stack up in the
AFC East in 2016 you must first consider their recent record against those teams: the Dolphins are 8-16 (.333) against division opponents over the past four years, including a woeful 2-9 (.250) road record.
Since 2012, the Dolphins are 2-6 against the
Buffalo Bills, 3-5 against the
New England Patriots, and 3-5 against the
New York Jets.
Things must change.
And perhaps they will under first-year coach
Adam Gase, who brings a new offensive system.
“It’s a fresh start for everyone,” quarterback
Ryan Tannehill said.
That’s what the Dolphins are preaching – a fresh start – as they again enter a new era with a new head coach.
Last season, the Dolphins were 1-5 against AFC East opponents, saved only by a 20-10 victory over New England in the regular-season finale. But the Patriots had little to play for after already wrapping up the division and clinching a postseason berth.
