Lawrence is 25 years old and the most dominant NT in the NFL. He would instantly make everyone else on the defense better. It just isn't going to ever happen for Raekwon Davis if it hasn't happened yet.

Lawrence could single-handedly vault our defense into elite status and bring home the Lombardi Trophy.

No other trade out there could do so much for whatever the price may be.

I dare anyone to prove me wrong....

If the plan is to pay Lawrence, Wilkins, Sieler, Chubb, Ramsey and Howard next year than you're going to have go cut rate on the oline and try to get by with cheaper options than we already have. You might run the risk of raising the defence's play, but hampering the offense at the same time.

Why would the Giants trade him, they have just given him a big deal and he's their best defensive player? He's also got a $22M cap hit next year, which would drop to just over $17M if traded so who's money would we be using to pay him?

This is just a fantasy land trade.

For those saying Miami doesn't have the money for a trade like this, thats not really true.

I am no advocating for this trade.

However, if there's no money for a trade like this then there is absolutely no money for a Wilkins extension.

If you want to extend Wilkins, then you can make this trade, of course you're saying Lawrence and his cap and lost assets are more valuable to the team then Wilkins

This brings up the Wilkins debate.
Wilkins
Or
Williams/Hunt/Wynn or Jackson.

So a trade like this can be done but admits Wilkins is gone and atleaet 1 of our lineman.

Now a Tua extension and an Ogbah release is enough to get Miami cap compliant.

A post June release of Howard and trade or release of Baker is the money to extend your 3 big linemen plus, maybe your rookies.

So where the money for Williams or Wilkins.

Well this is where restructuring of Hill, Armstead and Chibb come into play. If we want to move on as early as possible from Chubb or Armstead, you don't touch their contracts. Hill is the best bet.

However, you are now filling the roster with rookie and minimum salary FAS which is not necessarily a bad thing considering the core of the team will be very competitive.

For the next 2 years you're now relying on creative extensions to stay cap compliant or ease the losses.

Griers 3 year contracts are what gives Miami this flexibility.

So a Wilkins extension is doable, or a Williams trade, but that cap space pretty much would hinder Miamis ability to acquire any significant FA for a few years.

By not extending Wilkins or trading for Williams, Miami will still have some cap flexibility without having to release or trade players they weren't expecting to. For the record, IMO, the way contracts were structured the expected players who's contracts were expected to be let go in the next twar or 2 are Armstead/Howard/Ogbah and Baker. So when I say players they were not expecting to lose, they were expected releases etc IMO.

So for me. No trade for Williams. Extend Williams/Hunt/ Wynn and Jackson FIRST. Move on to Van Ginkle.

After that, if there's any room start going from there. Heck, Grier may decide going for a rookie C is a better financial choice then extending Williams. Who knows. But for me, those are the main targets for extensions.

The offense makes this team go. Keep it in tact then worry about the rest

I don’t think the DL is the concern
But we need a on that can finish tackles at los

I think it will be an ILB, but they def need some DT depth. Just don't see how they could break the bank for a DT. Wilkins is just starting to round into form. Bringing in Lawrence means your moving on from Wilkins. That's not good for chemistry in the middle of the season. Money makes this fantasy anyway. Think depth on the DL.

pipe dream....like others have said, we don’t have the cap space for it nor the picks that it'd take

If we are trading for anyone on the giants, he’s not the one I want. Now if we are talking Bobby Okereke then sign me up. That guy is a monster. Was everywhere vs us and most importantly was everywhere vs the bills.

Agreed on thar point. "If" we are trading for a Giant player... that's my target

I like him a lot but a nasty lb would help us more imo. Most teams that excell on D seem to have fantastic edge and lb play. Our lb's are B/C level on a good day.
Sign me up for an upgrade on the worst part of the D, as much I am
convinced Fangio isn’t going to change his style of D for players strengths he does have here he must be looking at the lb group and going seriously?
