According to Orlando Alzugaray we have named former UCF RBs and QB Coach Danny Barrett as our RB Coach.
Maybe it's just me, but this doesn't sound like a particularly inspired or inspiring hire :idk:
Keep in mind that Big O was probably screaming over a caller when he broke this news, so the name might have gotten mixed up in all the shouting.
As long as he can teach Damien Williams how to get a yard on all of those inexplicable 3rd and 1 carries I'm good.
Big O is like Chris Matthews where he asks a question, the interviewee wants to answer but O just keeps talking and talking, so hyper, answers it himself clumsily, maybe asks a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th question, which he then also answers himself, then after finally the endless diatribe concludes where everyone is confused about the non sequitur, including O, the interviewee is left to answer the carcass of O's rambling speech. The only thing for certain is that O wants his guest to completely validate his clumsy thoughts or else he will pout like a baby.
O is going to brag like crazy about breaking this.
I'm sure we will soon learn that Barrett was Gase's baby sitter when he was little or something.Barrett coached in Canada mostly and at second level collegiate programs. It is notable and interesting that he doesn't seem to be a crony of Gase. Maybe this is a hire where Gase got his name, looked at his credentials and hired him on on fit and merit.
His record as a head coach is not exactly stellar but he's hired for a spacific task and it's refreshing to see the new approach in staff building of not just hiring based on nepotism (Taylor, Turner) or cronies (Philbin's staff, including coaches he refused to fire based on his poor character).
