As long as he's not the OC or HC, I can live with it. Of course all my friends here will and are giving me the usual "Haha, you're stuck with Dorrell. You should be a Pats/Chargers/Raiders/Seahawks/Colts/insertteamnamehere fan instead.".

No doubt, he's a good character guy and player friendly coach which should even out between the chewing players will get from Sparano and Maser. In terms of how well he can be a WR coach, that's questionable. He had Smith and McCaffrey but he hasn't been able to duplicate that here. Granted, our WR crew is oft-injured and suffers from bad QB play most of the time but we had good prospects who haven't done squat. Our WR's really suffered from easy drops and bad route running. I would've preferred him as a special teams coach considering the success our ST has been able to do.

being a former PAC-10 guy, maybe he has some extra insight on how to fix Hagan

i've heard he's supposed to be our heir at OC...

I hope not. This guy makes the Wanny era offenses look dynamic and high-octane. It'd take nothing short of a miracle to make him a quality OC. That and he's also well ingrained in Walsh's West Coast system.

I dunno. Didn't have too much success fixing our WR dropping passes and running bad routes.

Being a HC and a WRs coach are two completely separate job descriptions. As the Head Coach he had to worry about a million other things, he couldn't individually coach the WRs. This is a homerun hire, he had a great reputation with the Broncos and people that have played under him absolutely love the guy. I love the idea of having him tutor under Dan Henning.

As I said, he is a player-friendly coach. But I just don't see him becoming a successful OC. Way too conservative mindset and you can see it in his game management. Norvall was really hindered in playcalling because of Dorrell's conservatism and questionable decisions. It'd take a lot to break that. I'm fine with him being a WR coach, but anything beyond that gives me the creeps.

We'll then he'll feel right at him in Miami! Seriously I love Ginn and think great things are in his future, but he's gonna need help. Can't wait to see who Miami gets in at WR either through FA or the draft. Ginn will make a hell of a #2 for the next couple of years.

Well, one of the things I like about Dorrell is he loves big WR's. We had Cowan, Gavin "Can't" Ketchum, Ossar Rashaan, and Dominique Johnson. All 6'3 and up. Whenever we can get into the end zone, I know we'll have a great chance at a receiving TD (provided our WR's catch it).

He should also have some good comments on Beck as they played against each other.

We need a WR coach (now this will seem odd) that can teach them how to catch. Now I know that's a dying art form for the Dolphins but I'm quite certain that I read somewhere that it's a helpful skill for the WR's. I cannot even begin to contemplate how many dropped passes I've seen a WR in a Dolphin uniform make over the last 6 years. We have SUCKED THE BIG ONE at this position for as long as I can remember. I know that Chambers had that one crazy game against Indy in his rookie year and against Cleveland two years ago but it's REALLY rare.

Hate to burst your bubble but we didn't play BYU for a long time until this season after Beck was gone...

And I hate to burst your bubble again because inconsistently dropped passes seemed to be an issue with our WR's (poor route running too but that's beside the point).
