From Rotoworld:
ESPN's John Clayton doesn't expected the Dolphins to pursue free agent DE Chris Canty.
Fins VP of Football Operations Bill Parcells drafted Canty in Dallas, but he won't come cheap. Clayton also points out that Miami is high on the two defensive ends it drafted last year: Kendall Langford and Phillip Merling

If Canty is going to require big money I don't see him as a fit.

well it makes sense ... i posted an article about a week ago that he was looking for Tommy Kelly Money.... News flash Canty... We are not the Raiders!!!!

good b/c i think merling and langford should be hte main starters as merling wasnt last year. he has far more upside and potential and all then holliday does as of RIGHT now so i believe he ]will start next year. Merling is very good against the run and is a smart player.

i rather spend that money on brown and mcfadden or osmething

Yep, looks that way. I would've been intrigued if they had made the move - just to see what they'd have done with Phillip Merling. Oh well, it's nice to know we have our bookend tackles on offense and a pair of ends for the 3-4 locked up for a nice stretch.

I think it would have been interesting to have 6-7 Canty and 6-6 Langford on the starting d-line. Then have Merling and Starks in the Rotation.

as i said before merling wont play OLB!

as for merling canty and langford with starks rotation is nice but too much money will be invested to canty and too much potential left out on merling to nto start him or have canty not play. plus canty is only a 2 down linemen.

if he takes a little less money bring him in.. parcells said it takes 12 big men on the d-line.. soo thats 1 less if we can get him in here

The Dolphins were never going to be in the market for Canty. Why he got so much talk around here just seemed silly to me.

i heard holliday is planning on reconstructuring his contract for the upcoming season.

This team would love to keep Vonnie, despite him not being the ideal DE or OLB for the 3-4 . . . but he definitely needs to restructure his deal. The DE rotation of Langford, Holiday, Starks and Merling . . . with Wright and Dotson as backups . . . was not a problem last year . . . bringing in Canty in for all that money to be a marginal upgrade at best . . . would be dumb IMO. Much rather spend that money on Bart Scott and Jason Brown.

Wishfull thinking... imagine Canty 6'7" on one side with 6'6" Langford on the other and 6'6" Haynesworth in the middle. We would have very little cap money left for anyone else.... Maybe next year when there's no cap.
