Dolphins rookie running back Jay Ajayi is eligible to return this week but that doesn’t mean the Dolphins are ready to activate him.

Interim coach Dan Campbell said Wednesday that Ajayi — who was placed on short-term injured reserve before the season began — is “slowly” coming along and “improving” but that the decision whether to activate him “won’t be for a while.”
Campbell said the Dolphins have two weeks to decide whether to make Ajayi active. If he’s not activated, he has to remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season.
“We have basically another week or over until we have to absolutely make a decision,” Campbell said. “But at this point we can if we would like to activate him this week. He will be eligible to do that. We don’t want to do it right now until we know for sure.”
Ajayi said his rib was healed three weeks after the injury, which was suffered in the preseason finale. So the Dolphins hesitation is apparently about Ajayi as a player, not the rib.

Sweet, time to play the man with absolutely zero burst in Jonas Gray.

Can't wait to see a running back that has as much burst as Matt Darr get more carries.

Or maybe we can give it to the other running back in Damien Williams who takes as long the Lord of The Rings movies to decide which hole to hit.

Going into a physical front with a **** oline and not activate the physical running back

So us

Sure, let's try to suffocate our enormously talented rookie's career by benching him in favor of no talents like Gray and Williams. Spectacularly poorly handled first year for the kid. Maybe he'd be more ready if you didn't drop him on the IR for 3 times longer than he needed and was unable to practice or grow as a player in this his formative rookie season.

anyone else think Campbell has trouble cutting players? real emotional and close with his players. Situations like this make me think he struggles to let guys go. Just a guess

So ****ing disappointing that our rookies are basically non-existent. Get the ****ing guy on the field, sorry for the expletives but this just posses me off to the extreme.

Who needs another weapon right? I mean our offense is just unstoppable as is :/

This is a head shaker. When I saw the kid in pre-season he looked like he was exactly what we needed. The perfect power runner to compliment Miller's slashing style. He has great hands and I don't think he has a weakness in pass protection that I've ever heard about. Is there a problem learning the playbook? Why is he not trusted to play against the Bills. I was very excited to see him in action against Buffalo. If we can't run the ball they will crush us again and Alayi imo gives us a powerful weapon to deploy. Maybe Campbell is playing his cards close to the vest and he intends to play him against Buffalo he just doesn't want to say until he has to. If we don't see him playing on Sunday something is wrong. We really need to get these rookie stars into games to help us win. When do we take the training wheels off Parker? I'm very concerned about that foot injury. We just can't afford to be whiffing on 1st rounders. Now Ajayi is a question mark. Not good.

Gray had a tough game against New England...activate Ajayi and send Jonas back to the practice squad.

I am not surprised at this at all. In fact, I think the org is kind of down on him.

Kind of a leap to think he can't cut players......it's way too early to go there. Disappointed we aren't going to see this kid play this week, but I have no reason to think if the coaching staff thought he could help them win, he would be playing. Who really knows what is going on.....

Campbell does not have the ability to cut or sign players. Move on. He determines who plays and is active, but I bet that is even a consensus.

When Tannenbaum called out Ajayi's bad pass pro in the summer I was bit surprised being he that was just a rookie.

I am interested in him because he has fresh legs. Maybe that could help right now.
