I think we all can agree that our defensive unit should be in the top ten this year. But where will our offensive unit fall? I've broken this down below based on my opinion:

Recievers:
1) Chris Chambers - Has the talent to dominate the game, if cam uses him like linehan did we should see our number 1 reciever shine this year.
2) Marty Booker - Has always been consistant and should have another productive season.
3) Derrick Hagan - This one is a bit tough to predict he showed potential last year but dropped to many passes. If he can improve a bit this year he has a chance to take over the number 2 reciever job by next season.
4) Ted Ginn - Needs to work on technique, however he may be one of if not the fastest player in the league. If he can work on his route running he will show his worth at the #9 pick. Say what you want about this guy, speed and elusiveness in this league is what makes big play athletes who they are. Look at champ bailey, LT, will allen, randy moss, willie parker, wes welker (just to name a few)-- all starters because of their speed.

Tight Ends:
1) David Martin - I dont know alot about this guy, but from what I've heard he is a good option as a recieving tight end. At 6'4 265lbs he's huge and this should play out to our benifit.
2) Justin Peelle - I've never really had a ton of faith in this guy. He's 6'4 255lbs and can be utilized in blocking and goalline situations. If he can work on his catching and route running he maybe a asset in a two tight end formation.

Running Backs:
1) Ronnie Brown - I really like brown but he needs more carries. He's a beast and if he doesnt get 20 - 30 carries a game then he was never worth the #2 pick. I think cam will use him wisely and I am going on record to say he will be a pro-bowler very soon.
2) Lorenzo Booker - I dont know too much about this guy, but from the highlights I've seen, he seems like he can be a good option to come in an give ronnie a breather. He's agile and at 5'11 190lbs will be a nice change of pace back. He also has the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and I am sure cam will utilize this in both him and ronnie.

FullBack:
1) Corey Schlesinger - What can I say, this guys a vet with tons of experience and will deliver a powerful hit when nesecary to derail defenders. Should open up lanes for ronnie when there aren't any available. Can also carry the ball in goal line situations.

Quarterbacks:
1) Daunte Culpepper - Alot of people bash this guy, and he's talked about alot on this board. But all I can say is 6'4 265lbs arm capable of 70-80 yrds. If he's healthy we should give him a chance to compete for the job.
2) Trent Green (Pending a Trade) - I put this one in here even though he's not on the team yet. I've always like him, he is a pure passer that makes good decisions and acts quickly to get the ball out. He's old, at 37 he has maybe 2-3 seasons left in the tank. I envision him coming in and doing for us what Gus did-- provide an average passing game that will be good but never great.
3) Cleo Lemon - This guy is a good backup. Those who think he should be the starter need to wake up and remember why AJ Feely and Joey Harrington didnt work out, their simply not good enough. I like Cleo's upside but he needs more time, i can see him maybe in the future becoming what damian huard did.
4) John Beck - This guy is the reason Cleo Lemon will never have a starting job in miami. I have to admit i didnt really know too much about this guy when we picked him. However, now i realize his upside and its his accuracy and decision making ability that puts this guy on top. His arm strength may not be huge but there are alot of QB's in the game that are good and dont have great arm strength-- Chad Pennigton for example.

Offensive Lineman:
I am running out of time here so i am going to quickly just give my opinion on this group. They had a terrible start as a unit last year but ended up closing the season as an average unit. This season i expect them to be better then average but not great. The young potential there gives the entire unit a huge upside and i think that the next 2 season will lead to miami having a great line.

I think this offensive unit on paper has the ability to be top 10 this season, however i think realisticly we can expect to see them in the 15 - 20 range. I look forward to being wrong. I think cam will implement some pacakges to take complete control of his playermakers. Something nick knew NOTHING about. Where do you guys think we will rank in offense?

good post :)

you are missing the juggernout !"·!$·"$%

haha:sidelol:

Top 10 is a bit of a reach at this point ... being as though our starting QB is Cleo Lemon right now -- today.

IF DC is healthy enough to start -- and the FO decides to keep him, who knows ...

IF the FO trades for TG -- or waits for him to be cut, then who knows ...

Maybe a 3d option will develop ... outside of giving Beck the nod. who knows ...

But again, right now today -- top 10 is a reach. Albeit, there is enough talent surrounding Lemon to certainly be a top 15 ...

In the end, I believe top 15 is where we will end up regardless -- why, no - not because of the QB situation ... but because it will take about 7-8 games into the season before the OL starts to really start playing well together -- since we 'could' have ALL new starting positions.

Wow that extremely high expectation for a OL that has made major changes.
The offense will be as good as the offensive line will be. Thats been the case the past 10 years.

Agreed.

I've bashed Culpepper alot in the past, but if he's healthy, and if he's our best option then I do want him as our starter. Hope he can come back next year, although I still believe he has to alter his game a bit to fit our offense.

the main thing will be-----------------play calling.no more mull man!people just dont realize how big this will be.plus all the other you stuff you posted to.

They'll be in the top 32 for sure.

 Really going out on a limb there.

* Quick note to the original poster. Wes Welker is not a starter because of his speed. I think he ran the 40 in the 4.6 range coming out of college, which is slow considering his size. He is a starter because he finds holes in the D and catches what comes his way. Otherwise, pretty good thread.

There's no question that the OL and the QB are the key and those are the big question marks.

I think you have to look at the fact that you've got new players, people playing new positions, and a new coach when analyzing the OL and QB play this year. I expect 7-9 because the team needs to gel and needs more talent on the line. With top 10 play from the OL and QB this team could be 11-5 easily (but I don't see it).

I agree with you for the most part, but...

Look at champ bailey, LT, will allen, randy moss, willie parker, wes welker (just to name a few)-- all starters because of their speed.

Welker runs a 4.7 40. He's a couple of leagues separated from those other guys. He thrives on his route-running and heart, not speed.

Considering the amount of turnover and the complete reorganization of the line you can't really base their performance this year off of improvement from last year. Its basically a whole new unit, at least in terms of positioning.
