Mularkey did worse with our offense than the hapless 2004 team? Jeez, i hope we retain him!

wow funny how booolarky has the worst ppg total out of all those guys. I want them to hire cam and then i want them to fire mularky and promote garrett and ill be happy

just think about how many more games we could have won if we were avg. atleast 21 or 22 PPG. Thats not much its only about middle of the pack but would have made a big diff.

I wonder where Gary Stevens is today? I know he isn't coaching anywhere. I always felt that he got a raw deal from Jimmy. Sure, that offense was probably more Marino than Stevens, but the downfall wasn't Stevens's playcalling. It was Jimmy taking away Marino's audibles.

wow Norv TUrner gave us our Best offense since the Marino days?? I know Chan Gaily gave us a boost when he was here.

The strangest thing on here is the 2001 Gailey season. It ranks 8th in points with 21.5 / game. Norv Turner increases this to 23.6 points/game... and our points ranking drops from 8 to 12. The league as a whole scored more points in 2002.

Mularkey is somewhat of an enigma....
Mularkey(2006) vs. Foerster(2004)
+21 Rush YPG, +14 Pass YPG, 11 less sacks, 15 less turnovers
And yet we score 1 less point per game this year. Very, Very Strange.

Mare even scored less points that year. (100 in 2006 vs. 54 in 2004)
3 points less per game.

The 1 stat that stands out to me is Red-Zone offense. It appears we moved the ball well this year... but couldn't seal the deal.

Year TDs/Dr
2006 12.4% (29)
2005 16.8% (17)
2004 14.1% (27)
2003 17.1% (15)
2002 22.8% (7)
2001 19.9% (7)
2000 16.5% (20)

Not a lot of long passes to chambers this year, as well.

if we had a QB like Marino right now we would put up alot of points even with the rest of the team we have. I don't credit Stevens when he had Marino as his QB. but imagine Ricky and Ronnie running with Marino at QB, thats a scary thought to opposing teams. we have to find our next Marino, I'd even take a Eli Manning right now at least he has talent

I was not a fan of the Malarkey hiring, and he did not do a great job last year. But, he did pretty well at Pittsburgh, and last year I don't think anyone would have done well with the situation. He had zero decent QB play; the O-line was one of the worst in the league throughout most of the year. That, and the WR's dropped any number of passes thrown to them. They were no threats at all.

The fact is, the talent on the O last year was terrible. Malarkey contributed to the problems, I'm sure, but he also may have been handcuffed by the oppressive Nictator.

That said, I'm hoping we get Cameron and our offense shows some signs of life. I would say Cameron, a good young OC, a healthy Daunte Culpepper and several picks on the offensive side of the ball and there is hope.

Stevens was sent packing - I remember - after those last two Patriot games, the one to end the season, and the first round of the playoffs. If I remember correctly, the Patriots had memorized Marino's calls at that point, especially for the playoff game.

When JJ took Marino's audibles away, it neutered him essentially and Stevens looked bad as a result.

Stevens - for a long time - did very well w/ our offense and played to Danny Boy's strenghts. Those were the days ...

Steven had an interview with the press...
where he said: "You can't make chicken salad from chicken Sh*t". The interview was the reason he was fired, not really his performance.
