Dolphins perfect season was almost 40 years ago - let it go!

I'm pretty sick and tired of always hearing about Miami's perfect season...it seems like we hold on to that as our only comfort for not having any superbowls in almost 40 years.

Let it go everyone

***update - i should mention i posted this in response to everyone 1. rooting for the patriots 2. excusing the rest of this year for the sake of this one record. a bunch of readers have taken this statement at face value and ran with it despite this me being an obvious Dolphin fan and, obviously, proud that it was the Dolphins who accomplished a 17-0 season. ***

Lol..you are going to be hated on this forum for expressing a fairly valid point in the context of the current state of the franchise...

Don't forget the where you came from but don't constantly live in it either...

I see many red bars in your future...

we should focus on our team becoming good enough to repeat the perfect season.

:)

In the meantime if a player like peyton manning pulls it off.. look at it this way... at least it wasnt Tom Brady!

Certainly not the stupidest thing I've ever seen posted but definitely in the top 5. I'm sure you are very proud of the Waanstedt years aren't you?

I really dont care if the Saints or Colts go undefeated or not.

What Im really concerned about is NOT SEEING MERCURY MORRIS look like a ****ing idiot again this year. Can we PLEASE keep this clown off the television the next couple of months. Seriously. Thats all I want for Christmas.

And if one of these teams can pull it off this year, then at least we know we wont ever have to hear this **** OVER AND OVER every season.

Because really, with the way the bottom of the league is right now(a handfull of teams blow really bad) there is a good chance at least one team is going to make a legit run at going undefeated every year for a while. The Colts seem to win at least the first 10 every year.

So I hope one of them does it this year so we can stop bringing it up every god damned year starting around mid november and having it last until they lose. Im tired of it.

It wasnt long ago, if a team got to 6-0 that was about as close as anyone got. It seems like recently though, at least one team is getting close every year.

And this Mercury Morris **** has to stop. I mean seriously, a RAP??? C'mon man. Dude is making a fool out of himself and making our franchise look bad.

Whats wrong with being proud and celebrating a part of out teams history. If you only care about this years team then what's the point in following a team at all? Just figure out who you think will be the best team every year and follow them.

So following your logic the 49ers shouldn't celebrate "The Catch", the Broncos "The Drive" maybe the Red Sox should just forget about Carlton Fisk waving the ball fair? It's all part of being a fan of a team, you celebrate the wins and history and cry about the losses and missed opportunities of your team.

What I don't get is why some people act like if another team goes perfect, it all of a sudden means we didn't.

I still am going to be proud of it, and won't let it go.

Why would I want to let go of the proudest moment in our history? I know it happened 40 years ago, but it still happened, and I will never forget it. Even though I wasn't alive it is still a huge deal, and the Dolphins can always fall back on that.

The fact is that nobody else has done it, and we are the only ones who have. I am proud to be a fan of the team who has been perfect.

I have no problem with anyone caring about the '72 record. If it means as much to you as it doesn't to me then we're all good

Seriously, think about it if you a fan of the Dolphins. Your team won a championship and achieved perfection doing it. No other team has managed to do it, not yet anyway. You want to "let go" of the single greatest achievement in the history of your team? Why would you ever want to let go of that as a fan?
