Dolphins pick up fifth year option on pouncey

The team has exercised the fifth-year option on center Mike Pouncey’s rookie contract.
The Pro Bowl center is now under contract through the 2015 season!‪#‎FinsUp‬

One of those "what can you do" moves. Ideally they will be using the extra year to find a trading partner. No doubt that isn't going to happen, but one can still hope.

Tired of headcase lineman. Finding a competent center who isnt in the midst of a controversy every few months simply isnt that difficult to find.

Literally 15 minutes after I posted I thought they would skip the 5th year option and go straight to a long term deal....
 
As a first rounder taken between 11 through 32, his extension will be the average of the top 3rd through 25th players at his position. Cheap.

Your totally right, the far superior option is to wait until he's suspended for 4, 8, or 16 games. That pro-bowl'ing will help us greatly then.

Not to mention how pivotal that pro-bowl center has been to our recent success, he clearly won us 2 or 3 games by himself. Oh wait...

Do you honestly think that is inevitable? May I have a look at your crystal ball? You can look into his history where the dude was piss drunk at a party sporting a hat in favor of his murderous friend. Not good for PR and his image, but they can do far worse. The potential reward without a doubt outweighs the risk of keeping him on the roster.
