Miami won two Super Bowls when I was a teenager...but what have they done since then?

In the last 30 years, Miami has:

1. Won the AFC just one time (1984)...but they lost in the Super Bowl.
2. Have been in the playoffs 18 of those 30 years
3. Have a playoff record of 7-11 in those 18 playoff years.
4. Have not won a playoff game in 14 years
5. Have not been in the playoffs since 2008

You young whippersnappers out there must be really upset at this team. As an old-timer, I certainly am!

I've been a Dolphin fan for 45 years since they age of 12 so I feel your pain my friend

Over 50 crowd here.......and I hate to correct you, but it has been over 40 years since that 1973 team...not 30

Yeah...I'm over 50, too. My post has to do with the past 30 years. The majority of the playoff appearances in the past 30 years were during the Marino era.

But we have the hope of "Next Season"...

I'm playing it safe and going on record saying the Pats win the division next season.

NFL's motto:
The less things change the more they stay the same.

Gotcha.....I just started thinking about it and like most things......couldn't believe it has been 42 three years since 1973 and our last Superbowl.

Your right, the Marino era is a better measure. The past 30 years have been a little disappointing to say the least.

You could have stopped right there. Should have started a coaching search in 1985.

Only a few more years of continuous losing before the same guys responsible for our continuous losing suddenly carry this team into a golden era of winning.

Its like our offensive line, the team will be fixed next year. Always next year.

No way. The Pats are old. Brady is old. They're not the team they used to be.
And it must be true because come September 2015, a whole bunch of people are going to be telling us that on this board.

They made the Super Bowl in 82 as well, so they have won the AFC twice.
The playoff record is 12-18 in those 18 playoff years.

But I get, and agree with your point. It has been too long since we have been a successful team. But it could be worse. You could be a Jets fan.

I'm 33. When I was growing up they would always post a stat on the scoreboard about how we were the winningest franchise in all of sports. It's inexcusable that we haven't won a playoff gm in 14 years. A generation of Dolphans grew up looking at us like we are the Browns. God bless those of you who have witnessed a Super Bowl victory

48 here. Been a fan for 40+ years. Gone are the days when I would enjoy watching a game....even thinking they'd upset a better opponent now and then. Sad, very sad.
I'm a Cubs fan too. How ironic they have a brighter future than Miami.
