Anybody else see the poll on the official Dolphins site?

During which timeframe did you first become a Dol-Fan?

17% 1970-73
17% 1982-85
14% 1990-93
10% 1986-89
10% 1994-97
07% 1978-81
07% 1998-2001
07% 1966-69
06% 2002-Present
06% 1974-77

I just thought it was interesting that the two highest percentages were from the undefeated season and when Marino first became a 'Phin.:D

I'm at the bottom of the heap: In 1976 I became a 'Phins fan at age 6 because my best friend was and I really thought dolphins were cool.

How about you all? When and why did you become a Phan?

I'm saddened there are only 7% from 1966-1969. I guess that means many of us have either gone to that great stadium in the sky, have "old-timers" disease, don't know how to use a computer, or don't give a rat's @$$ about polls.

Me, I was in Jr. high school when the city of Miami applied for and was awarded The Franchise. Miami had hit the big time.

1970 when I was 6 years old.

We must be close to the same age. 1970 is when I became a fan as well.
I am getting so old I can't remember what age I was in 70, but it was close to 6.
I remember that I was in 1st grade in 71, 2nd in 72, 3rd in 73 and so on.....
In second grade I had the Sports Illus. foldout of the entire Dolphins team and could quote each players name by memory. My teacher made me say all their names in front of class....and I was proud to do it!

Cool poll, I would say Im in the 86-89 range. I became a fan when I was a wee tike here in Nevada because I also liked dolphins and my best friends whole family were like the biggest dolphins fans in Nevada!! We would goto there house sometimes and they would just school us on pro football and how the Miami Dolphins were the BEST team ever!!! At the time we didnt care and just wanted them to shut up about football, but I guess it stuck because when I got older and started really liking football I just naturally started rooting for the fins!!!!

90-93

I'm probably gonna get bashed here but I first became a real football fan during the Giants vs. Bills Super Bowl in which the Giants won 20 - 19 cuz of a missed field goal by Bills kicker (Moorman I beleive, I may be wrong). But during that game I was routing for the Bills. So I became a Bills fan. During the whole 4 Year Super appearance & losses years. Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, Darryl Talley, Cornelius Bennet, Bruce Smith, etc... But after all the Boy I Love Losing Super Bowls.....I became a homer and became a Phins fans and I've been living in Miami my whole life. My 3 favorite sports franchises at that time were NOT from Miami and their team names all began with the letter B. Bills, Bulls, & Braves...LOL!!!!!!! Now I'm a true homer.....Heat, Phins, Marlins.

I'm Old School, I became a fan in 66 the same year I learned to surf. I was like 7 man how time flys.

Go Dolphins

well I was born into Dolfandom in 1980 (father is a diehard Phin fan also), but didn't really start watching games until the 86'-89' time frame...

yeah i saw that, no big surprised that those are the highest percentages, i actually fall in the third highest percentage

That's right about the time I became a fan as well.....and I am embarrassed to say that I, too, liked the Bills then (I don't know how I could like the Dolphins and the Bills at the same time, but somehow for a couple of years I did). I started pulling for the Dolphins because I liked their uniform colors (aqua and teal are my favorite colors.....they are close to the same thing but I differentiate because watch what happens if you refer to the Dolphins having teal on this message board), and I liked watching Dan Marino play. I became a diehard Dolphins fan sometime during the 1993 season, and have been ever since.

'73 saw the Csonk knock out a db and I was hooked. Meanest mfer in the NFL.

My uncle owned a chain of drug stores in the Miami/Coral Gables area and was the supplier for the Dolphins. I lived with my aunt & uncle in 1970-1973 when my father went to Viet Nam. I soon was put to work by my uncle loading and unloading trucks of drugs that we were delivering right to the back roll up door to the Orange Bowl. Soon I was able to meet Shula, Czonka, Griese, and many others....so, I've been a fan since 1970 and I was 6 years old....when I turned 9 we moved out to San Francisco, California. I've stayed true to the Fins even surrounded by Niner and Raider fans. If you've ever been out to San Francisco, you'll see how easy it was for me to stay a Dolphin fan...there's no way I wanted to be associated with those freaks!!
