Here's a good article on Joey Porter from the Miami Herald
http://www.miamiherald.com/616/story/119349.html

''Everybody knows who he is,'' said linebacker Derrick Pope, although not in attendance on this night. ``But he didn't come into this team with that kind of an ego. He opened himself up to us, took a few guys under his wing.''

But that's Porter. Somehow, in some intriguing way, South Florida's newest sports star brings something to the Dolphins locker room that few other players have: Big-brother respect.

He's going to do wonders for our team and our defense is linebacker friendly.

He was a great pickup for the Phins. Adding some toughness to an already good defensive front seven. (I just hope he doesn't get suspended!)

i agree best fa signing. im so excited for jp i actually want to kick off to start football games to see these guys play. This will be a season to watch, this defense will be exciting, innovative, and spectacular. I love this defense. Its the reason i can wear aqua and orange proudly every where i go as i live in patriot nation.

For him to do that, he will have to get there before Taylor does.

that brought a bigazed smile to my face... Brady won't know which way to turn... the first guy will send him into the second... or middle.. don't forget, we got a dozen pressures from the middle, so even if the middle isn't pushed into the qb's face, it still no escape route.... only J Tee or J Peezee on the menu.... muwahahahahah

true dat LOL :sidelol: . POrter will bring the pain in the 4th quarter . THis is were our defense has been a bit inconsistent the couple of years. Probaly due to being on the field to long or not being that young.

I just hope Porter abuses Brady the way he abused Manning.

Or the way he abused Culpepper...:boohoo:

It's funny Porter was the only guy to 'get his rumble on' at Dolphin stadium last year & he did it in a Steeler uniform...:fire:

We easily have the sickest LB core in the league.

Offenses will shudder at the thought of having to play against them. QB's will fall down from fear. O Linemen will gasp at the speed and ferociousness of our Defense. Teams will be beat down and there will be woes and griefs in biblical proportions.

HELL YEAH!!!

LET'S GET THIS SEASON STARTED ALREADY!!!

best free agent pickup period

It's amazing how the rest of the media doesn't see it. I was listening to NFL on Sirius and a caller asked what impact Porter would have on the Phins this season. I believe it was Adam Schein who said that his best years were behind him and that next year we would all be asking why the heck did the Phins give this guy 20 million guranteed.
They don't realize that he was slowed by an ankle sprain last season, but the season prior he was one of the most dominant players in the league.
If the Pats had signed him, the media would be gushing about what a great pickup he was.
Adalius Thomas is less than a yr younger than Porter, yet somehow he was the best FA signing of the offseason and Porter is over the hill.
On the balance Porter has been much more consistent over his career than Thomas has been. In fact, I hadn't even considered Thomas an upper echelon player until last season when he had a career year.

Does it not concern anyone at all that our 'born-leader' on this team is immediately taking all the young, impressionable players out clubbing with him? Every time I hear about off the field trouble it relates to these guys living the 'going-to-clubs' lifestyle. Even Porter's last altercation was at a Casino (and probably involved people who had been drinking). Around the NFL there are DUI's, fist fights, and shootings, with alcohol and hittin' the clubs consistently being a big is part of it. Hell, Ray Lewis once said nothing bad can happen to you if you stay at home, and don't put yourself into those environments and situations. He ought to know.

I, for one, was happier when our young players were following Zach and JT's lead by studying game film, getting rest, and getting into the gym early.

Players like Channing Crowder, who had question marks around him coming out of college because of a fight at a bar, got really dedicated once in Miami and he has said he does nothing at night but to go home, play video games, watch movies and rest for the next day. Well, in college Channing used to love the nightlife... so with Porter now in town I worry Channing will fall back into old habits.

When I read that the great leadership of Joey Porter (up on assault charges in Nevada for an incident that occurred while out partying) consists of hitting the nightlife with our young players I am not happy... I'm worried.
