Dolphins re-sign Tyrel Dodson

Sure, in some respects you are right, but as @Feverdream pointed out, it severely limits your ability to maneuver with your roster. What I don’t understand is the hypocrisy of the people on here that bitch about how bad Grier is and that they were worried that he would make desperation moves to save his job but are now angry that he hasn’t made desperation moves. We should be glad that he isn’t mortgaging the future for the next GM if this season should fall apart .
Some people ain't happy unless they are constantly complaining. They'd complain even if they were hung with a new rope.

A little more than I expected but he should get a lot of playing time. I could see Walker coming back now to be the other cover LB.

Good signing. Played well in this scheme. Should outplay that contract.

Yeah, I mean you’re not saying anything contrary to what I’ve said. There is literally a salary cap. And I’m not advocating for 53 aging veterans on massive multi-year deals. The point is that the “cap” can be manipulated to allow you to do whatever you want to do — it’s just a matter of how much longterm cap gymnastics you’re willing to do to make it happen. The Eagles have already drafted over Milton Williams and Darius Slay, so it makes more sense to move on than to jump through cap hoops for a half decade to make it work with them.

I’m not suggesting the Dolphins should pay $26 million a year for a rotational DT. I’m suggesting they should fill holes and add game changers to a team that clearly wasn’t good enough in 2024, and they should push as much money as they need to push into the future to make that happen. Nothing is stopping Miami from adding 5-6 very good players by mortgaging $75 million of 2026 cap space.
I guess I would agree with you had they not extended a few guys like Ramsey and T Hill. and re-upped Waddle, and overpaid Tua. Or if this was a better free agent class.

I've soured on free agency in the last few years. I think teams are always overpaying for players their old team really didn't want or didn't want to give a pay raise to. I look at the contracts given to Bosa, Fries, Banks, Jevon Holland, Josh Palmer, Justin Reid, Milton Williams and many others and wonder if these GMs really looked at tape from the last 2 seasons. How could anybody give over 15 mil a year to Banks and Holland after watching them play last season?

I would have liked one or two more solid starters this week like a Zeitler or Julian Blackmon but I really wasn't expecting a lot from this FO. If Campbell comes back or we get a solid vet or two who can hold down the fort for a season we can be a better team in '25

His coverage skills are great but we should draft a LB who is better suited against the run.

I like Danny Stutsman if he is available in round 4.

They? McD and Weaver weren’t with Miami in 2021. And the Dolphins had the 6th pick and Chase went #5 so how did “they” (meaning the Dolphins) pass him up?
Trading down from 3 to 12 and then back up to 6, I guess is his reasoning. Could have stayed at 3 and taken Chase.

The only team ever to lose a #1 for tampering. Fcck that gawd damned Goodell all the way to Hades.
I feel about Goodell the way ChadRico feels about Grier. lol.
well, we've got three teams including the Pats accused of tampering for Ravens LT Ronnie Stanley.
Let's see if the Commissioner doles out a similar punishment.

highly doubt it.

It was Grier and we still had the 3 pick at the time.
Grier traded with SF and gave up the third pick then traded with Philly to get back up to 6. Missed out on Chase
First 10 were
Trevor Lawrence
Our new backup QB
Trey Lance
Kyle Pitts
J Chase
Waddle
Sewell
Jaycee Horn
Pat Surtain
Devonta Smith

Not by the lsu pro day he didn’t

I’m a fan of this kid, this signing and of Miami’s measured approach so far this offseason. For the people complaining, I file it under “Regardless of how Miami decided to attack the offseason, the fanbase would find reasons to complain”.

Heading into the offseason, my biggest worry was an irresponsible spending spree that mortgaged Miami’s future while Grier/McD tried to save their jobs today. There’s absolutely no reason to worry that Miami being fairly quiet means that Grier and McD already know they’re safe regardless of 2025-26’s eventual outcome. It’s year 4 together and if it ends up flaming out, Ross will make a move. They probably won’t be the right moves and he’ll most likely replace both men with people who are somehow worse at their jobs, but he’ll still make a move. That’s pretty much how Ross rolls.

It’s crazy to me that 99% of Fin Fans still bicker with each other over the merits of guys like Grier and McD when they’re not even close to our biggest issue. As long as Ross owns this team, this is what we’re getting. It’s been proven for over 2 decades now. Without a completely new direction in ownership, this franchise is adrift to nowhere.
