Jakeem Grant made a major contribution in last year’s win over the Patriots. (AP)

DAVIE — There’s always been an allure for the Dolphins when it comes to Jakeem Grant’s speed, and that’s kept him from becoming solely a kick and punt return specialist.

That finally started materializing into a weapon for the offense in the final month of last season, and even though the team signed two slot receivers in Albert Wilson and Danny Amendola, Grant still has a shot at being a regular part of the passing game.

I believe he'll get a chance to play but he needs to make it count cause we have plenty of good WR's this year.

I just think it's going to be a challange to get Parker, Stills, Amendola, Wilson, Grant and Gesicki big roles in the offense. Somebody's role will likely be very minor. For example I can't see them all getting 50+ targets. Somebody in that group is likely going to be in the 20 target or less range.

This would be me going through Jakeem Grant withdrawals...

It's pretty amazing the speed that has been added to this team in the past two years on both sides of the ball. It makes me happy.

The offensive coach that finds ways to consistently get the ball in Grants hands in open space will be a hero, the more the merrier. I get they were somewhat scared when Landry walked and I like both players Amendola, Wilson but if they take touches out of this kids hands it would be a shame, you know they have to just so many passes in a season. Speed kills and this guys really got it and only a handful in the NFL have this kind of speed, so far the most underutilized player on the team.

If you notice when a normal sized guy goes to tackle him there tackling his upper body were he has leverage, so he doesn't go down easy like you would think a small guy should.

The only downside I see if his head was turned the other way a 250lb linebacker or 200lb safety could clean his clock...

Given the right set of play's he could be a difference maker. Win games....

The Dolphins picked up Amendola I get that, but why couldn't Grant fill that role at slot? Why is it that some fans believe he is not a slot receiver?

because he played a ton on the outside in college and has already played some outside in the NFL.

He's more effective playing outside. I'm sure from time to time he'll play inside but that speed is better use outside.

The main role for Amendola is veteran leadership, Super Bowl and big game experience while providing another weapon.

Many fans are looking at our FA additions strictly based on talent and position. But quietly Case has addressed leadership and culture voids while bringing in experienced and proven vets who can still produce at a high level while infusing leadership, work ethic and winning attitudes in place of those we let go.

It's obvious to me Case valued the intangibles as much as production in players like Suh and Landry. You cannot change a culture when your highest paid players are not setting the examples and leading your locker room.

Fans want to point at productivity as justification of salary. Complaining that Suh and Landry were good at their position and craft to justify their money demands. It's obvious to me Gase's demands of these players and salaries went far beyond productivity and stats.

If we want this organization to turn the corner then we have to expect more from players and not just be thankful they can catch the ball, sack the QB or make an amazing play here or there for the sake of ESPN highlights. We need leaders and we need accountability. And that's why some players are here now and some are gone. Intangibles matter.

personally I think the leadership and culture thing is a bit overblown. More than anything, he wants players who play where they are supposed to be and don't freelance so much. He wants to run the offense as efficiently as possible and the players he brought in will do that

We have a lot more offensive flexibility now as so many of our receiver can run every route. You will even see Stills in the slot as he is quite good there as well. It will be a much tougher offense to prepare for

That last part there is key. The other team's defense will have to prepare for a lot of different players. Who will they key on?
On our part, it'll be up to Gase and the offensive staff to game plan but also to be ready to adjust depending on who the defense is trying to stop.

Gesicki would be my best guess at who will get the least targets this year - probably mostly in the red zone here for year 1.

Its obvious the intent here is to spread the ball around more, unlike just the Landry show the offense became.
