Do not shoot the messenger:

As the Miami Dolphins prepare to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weeked in Week 2 of the 2014 NFL Preseason, the coaches and front office have to also be considering what players from the current 90-man roster will fit on the roster once the NFL's 53-man limit begins. Yesterday, we took a look at the roster from the simple terms of roster locks, near guarantees, depth, bubble, and camp bodies categories. Today, we try to build a true 53-man roster.

As you check this out, you should notice I have already made some adjustments to my thinking from yesterday's post (i.e., some "near guarantees" may be off the roster while a "depth" or "bubble" player makes it). I also had to consider how many players for each position, which changes up some of the slots as well.

In the end, I wind up with 25 offensive players, 25 defensive players, and 3 specialists. It was not an intentional evening out between the offense and defense, it just seemed to happen.
Let's take a closer look at the roster:

That... actually looks like about how I expect it to end up.

I'd like to believe that Daniel Thomas' time will come to an end.

I still believe they go with 6 WRs.

Obviously Jordan Kovacs coverage skills have improved since he was drafted. I have said it several times and will repeat no one will work harder than he will. Would love to see him make the final 53.

Other than a few differences its pretty close to what i have. I have 6 WR's and 3 RB's instead of 5 WR's 4 RB's. Also i have Don Jones as the 4th safety due to his special teams ability over Kovacs.

Also my cuts when the three players come back is Anthony Johnson getting cut when Jordan returns, Brenner when Pouncey returns, and either trusnik or Don Jones after Reshad Jones comes back

Apparently Clay is going to start on the PUP list.

i counted 18 new players.
thats a big turnover.a 33%change.
i think we will see less turnover the better the team gets

Any such roster that has daniel thomas or michael egnew on it is not rooted in reality. I will be highly disappointed if either of those losers make this team.

I think Damien Williams makes this team over Gillislee or Daniel Thomas.

Daniel Thomas is a goner, I would bet dollars to donuts on that. Either Gillislee or Williams goes to the practice squad and the other makes it. Hopefully we get to see Gillislee get some preseason action at some point.

I don't see us keeping 10 OL, 9 would be the most. I hope we keep Damien Williams over Daniel Thomas too.

On defense I think Jalil Brown sticks at CB and Walt Aikens is a FS now so Kovacs is out.

I doubt Thomas or Egnew would make the team. I would take Williams RB and Williams or Binns at receiver

Thomas and Eggs are done. They have filled roster spots for no good reason. They don't have what it takes. And if they do have any ability its riding the bench for another team.
