Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno will make his preseason debut on Saturday against Dallas, a source told the Palm Beach Post.
Moreno, who signed with the Dolphins in the offseason, had an arthroscopic procedure on his knee in June and has yet to appear in a preseason game.
He returned to practice last week but the Dolphins held him out of the second preseason game against Tampa Bay.
Moreno is battling with incumbent Dolphins running back Lamar Miller for a starting job. Miller struggled last week but had no help from Miami’s offensive line. The Dolphins ran for -5 yards in the first half in a 20-14 win against Tampa Bay and the run blocking was awful.
Moreno received a decent amount of carries in Miami’s goal line drills this week. He’ll get a chance to prove if he is the team’s most well-rounded back.
Running back Daniel Thomas (hamstring) likely will not play on Saturday. The team is expecting him to be available for the preseason finale next Thursday against St. Louis which could be a do-or-die performance him.
