Here’s one of the best harbingers for the Dolphins during this four-game winning streak: they’re developing playmakers.

In the last three games the Dolphins have made game-winning, fourth-quarter plays on offense, defense and special teams.

In other words, this Dolphins team isn’t a one-trick pony that can only win through a strong ground game. This is a Dolphins team that has showed it can be creative and diverse while getting key contributions from everywhere on the roster.

That’s a sure sign you’re developing playmakers, the most sought-after and coveted of all NFL players.

On Sunday in San Diego, it was the defense making the plays. They had four fourth-quarter interceptions, including a 60-yard, game-clinching pick-six by linebacker Kiko Alonso and a pair of interceptions by cornerback Tony Lippett, who also added a sack.

Against the New York Jets it was special teams. Running back/kickoff returner Kenyan Drake had a 96-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter.

Against Buffalo ago it was the offense. The running game led by the offensive line and running back Jay Ajayi’s career-best 214 rushing yards were too much for the Bills.

But go beyond the units and look at how many players have made plays during this four-game winning streak.

Ajayi. Alonso. Lippett. Defensive end Cam Wake. Left tackle Branden Albert. Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Drake. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Wide receiver Kenny Stills. Cornerback Byron Maxwell. Tight end MarQueis Gray. Running back Damien Williams. Defensive end Andre Branch. Kicker Andrew Franks. Wide receiver DeVante Parker. Center Mike Pouncey. Wide receiver Jarvis Landry.

That’s not close to the entire list, but you get the idea.

The playmakers have come from every unit on the team, covering all ages, and all sorts of NFL pedigree, from rookies to a possible Hall of Famer (Suh).
This is what makes you think this Dolphins team could be headed for sustained success.

During this 4 game win streak it DOES seem as though different players have stepped up each week. I believe the article has merit and gives us Dolfans some JUSTIFIED hope. Your thoughts? :ponder:

I agree. Wish Reshad Jones was out there

This is a nice thread that now must be burned and sanititized because you didn't censor the name Bygone mAsswell.

We may need a miracle for the wildcard but you only need sight for hope. The players are growing.

a couple of nice plays to win some games and they spout off a list of playmakers?

parker hadn't shown up until yesterday, damien williams a play maker now?, kicker andrew franks? :rolleyes2:

don't get me wrong im drinkin the dolphin cool-aid and riding the high that is a 4 game win streak and a resurgence of our season.....but this just goes to show how bad sports writers are in general....

we win 4 games and all of a sudden marqueise gray is a playmaker lol cmon now.

all of these players being put into positions to excel and succeed come from IMO our best playmaker, and biggest impact so far and that's ADAM GASE.

I agree, but it fair to say fans haven't seen this many play-makers in decades(?). Grant, Drake, KA, JA, Tannehill, Stills, . . . In any case, FAR more play-makers than previous years.

The next best thing the phins can do is have these playmakers start getting playoff experience. Just win to get in guys!

Back when Reshad went down I thought this team had no shot at anything. I even made a sarcastic remark about him not being around for the playoff run...figuring we'd only win 5 games on the season. It's a shame he's not on the team to enjoy the ride.

I guess the bright side might be that we'll find out if Bacarri Rambo is a keeper and if he is that's a benefit going forward we would not have had otherwise.

With Williams i'm willing to start lumping him in there, the guy seems to do something big every time he gets in the game lately. But yeah, the article goes a bit overboard. Hell they list our left tackle as a "playmaker". I mean he's good, but lets not act like he's getting open deep or juking tackles.

I think Williams is classified as a play maker. If you look at his production per snap, I bet he's on part with Karlos Williams last season. Every time he touches the ball this season is a good run and nice catch or a td

Maybe they're just mean that different players are making big plays, rather than saying they're all big time play makers? Hitting a home run doesn't make you a home run hitter and making a big play in football doesn't make you a play maker but we have gotten big plays from a lot of different players this year. We used to think that big plays would only come from Jones, Suh and Landry

Ozzy rules!!

williams is a solid fill-in rb - he's got a role and plays it well - wouldn't call him a playmaker, and i wouldn't call karlos williams one either...mccoy? absolutely...ajayi? i'd say so.

it's all semantics, but it's just ironic that the narrative was our entire roster was lacking talent, we were light years away, and a few good wins puts us into the overflowing with playmakers department....

don't expect much more from typical beatwriters, though

As someone who has been on record to not be excited over Damien Williams in years past, he is exactly the type of player every team needs. He's clutch, he makes big catches and YAC plays. He scores points. He's never going to be the focal point of any offense, but when plugged in, he will be a positive player who doesn't take anything off the table. Reminds me of a guy like James Starks who always adds a few catches and a few nice runs for GB (in the past, anyways). I would definitely put Williams down as a "playmaker" although that list of naming like 15 dudes is a little absurd. Also Maxwell blows.
