http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/s...-salguero/article128836299.html#storylink=rss Not the complete article . . . The Miami Dolphins are scheduled to meet with the agents for Kenny Stills and Andre Branch while they are in Mobile, Ala., for Senior Bowl practices, according to league sources, with the hopes of setting a baseline starting point in negotiations in order to retain both players. Stills, a wide receiver, and Branch, a defensive end, are the Dolphins’ free agent priorities, according to sources. Both become free agents able to sign with any team this offseason if they remain unsigned. And so it is important these meetings are productive so that talks can proceed to the point neither player actually hits free agency when it begins.

get a feel for their market sure but actual priorities I don't think so

meh

non mission criticals

I've said it before and I say it again, Kenny Stills likes Miami and definitely wants to stay a Dolphin. If he receives a fair offer, he will be back. He was disrespected by his QB in New Orleans and understands what it's like to be traded away. In Miami he has fully engaged with the community and loves his teammates and Coach Gase (and he fits Gase's system).
Tannenbaum's challenge is finding the fair and reasonable offer that the team can afford without overpaying.

Totally agree, I'll be a happy man if we can find a way to keep both Stills and Branch.

Good start. Hopefully all sides can agree to something that's good for them and the team. I'd like Sims back as well.

branch is JAG. NEed to bring back Stills

if you can get them both done for $12m a year it's probably worth it...otherwise meh

and if you do resign branch you better get a 2 gap dt and I don't mean Jordan phillips

I would have preferred to have kept Shelby over Branch. He was just as good a pass rusher and better against the run but we kind of painted ourselves into a corner because of the lack of depth at DE.

Nothing surprising. They probably see these as the easiest and quickest negotiations. Get them wrapped up before tackling harder issues like Landry and Jones. Glad to see both are being addressed early. Keeping our good players is a novel idea for the Dolphins.

I say let branch walk get a better player

would be concerned if they weren't some of the first conversations we have in the offseason...not like FA is starting yet....

i don't think this article speaks at all to how determined we are to sign them back.....dolla dolla bills yall

If you watch the video of Mike Tannenbaum from the Sun Sentinel he talks about not being able to keep all the free agents just because some of them price themselves out...so I think he's got a number in his head (like he did with Miller and Vernon) and if some other team offers them more than that number they're going to let them walk.

I doubt I would give Branch more than $5-6. He is not special. I didn't think he was good setting the edge in particular. Part of it depends on supply and demand. If we don't keep him, we may need 3 new ends, which is kind of nuts. Hopefully, we work out a reasonable price.

Stills is different. We need him to stretch the field vertically or else we are going to be too compressed. His dad was an NFL player and the kid gets it. We need the stretch the field component.

I agree and especially since we've been looking for that guy for years...Brandon Marshall, Mike Williams, Edmond Gates...lots of guys brought in to take the top off the defense and none of them succeeded. We finally found a guy who can do it, has chemistry with the QB and we're potentially going to let him walk. The team has to be smart about the contract of course but if he does walk it's another hole on the team IMO.

This team sure does make holes a lot faster than they can fill them.
