What do you guys think about us getting a playmaking cornerback finally that we can line up against our opponents best WR?
What about this Oliver kid who's coming out in the Supplemental draft?
I heard he lockeddown Calvin and he's first round talent?

his 40 time was awful....he ran something near a 4.6

Oliver ran between 4.52 and 4.58. You also have to take into account that he just applied for the Supplemental Draft and didn't have a lot of time to prepare for his private workout.

What was a little disappointing to me was that he was a couple of inches shorter than expected.

well oliver or not I think we definitler need to get a corner in next years draft AT LEAST!

good point on the workout. i still wouldnt mind taking a shot at him if hes around in the later rounds of the supplemental draft.

Most of our big pass plays given up last season were a result of blown coverage by the safety and not our corners.

Will Allen IS a quality corner he just has hands of stone. Goodman and Daniels are also quality #2 corners. We really lack a true #1 corner though.

yea man the thing with allen is that he's most of the time in position but still doesent make a play on the ball. so he doesesnt really turn his head around and/or have great ball skills

I just read an article by K.C. Joyner on ESPN Insider the other day. It was a column on the most overated and underrated corners in the NFL, and Joyner said that Allen was one of the most overrated in the league.

For those who don't know his work, Joyner uses rather complex "metrics" to compare players to others, and Allen apparently didn't do so well using his little formula.

Here is what he had to say: "Will Allen: Allen is touted as the best cornerback on the Dolphins' roster, but his 38.8 success percentage was the worst of any qualifying cornerback on his team last year (30 pass attempts needed to qualify)."

I don't necessarily agree with this guy's analysis of grading corners (he also said that DeAngelo Hall, Terrence Newman and Rashean Mathis are overrated), but I do think some people tend to give Allen a little more credit than he is due.

I'am sure that if Cam. Dom, and Randy were really concerned about their DB's, they would have addressed the issue.

Well I don't think he is a shutdown corner by any means. He is however a borderline #1 guy.

I actually don't see anyone who gives him much credit so I don't know how he could be overrated.

well you make it sound like it's that easy
weelll heeeyyy if it was that easy than you can adress every position thats needed. someimes you just don't get that opportunity or that lucky to upgrade at every position that you want. I mean we had several things to worry about this offseason. Just because they didnt upgrade at the corner position does not mean they didnt want to because im sure thats still a bit of a concern for them. Sometimes you gotta just do with what you have i guess.

They picked up about 35 guys in the offseason, if they wanted to address the DB's, they would have.

That means nothing.

We aren't lacking in solid #2 corners, we have about three of those. The depth at corner isn't the problem so signing guys to compete there would have done nothing.

A true number one corner is all we really lack. Blown coverage by the safties didn't help make us look very good either.
