dolphins should go after brees/vick in 2006

I am trying to figure out with the Chargers are doing. I have looked into the situation, and there is no way they can trade Rivers because of the cap hit they would take. Basically, Brees is going to be a free agent after this year and they will have no choice but to turn things over to Rivers. If that is the case, I just don't understand why they franchised Brees and didn't just turn the team over to Rivers this year. Can someone explain this to me?

It's called compensation. They banked on a team giving them a 1st for Brees. They lost. But, dont be surprised when Brees does it again this year, they will tag him again. They are looking to make the team better through Brees. (Get another first round pick). But, the may tender him this time around for a 1st and 3rd. Which would cost us alot, but when we are looking at possibly the same thing for McMichael, it would be a break even situation for us. I wouldn't hesitate to do the trade, if we got that 1st and 3rd for McMichael, which I believe we will. I would trade the possible 1st and 3rd from Denver, Pittsburgh, TB, then our own. I would never trade our own, when I believe we had will have at least a top 3 pick. Not with all the good Guards, Tackles, and Centers out ther in the draft in 06. We can actually do some trading this next draft, unlike this one. It will definately be intersting.

Stats are stats. I watched him against a top 3 defense his senior year too. That would be my boys, the Buckeyes. I saw all i needed to know he wasn't worthy. You can hoot and hollar for your boy, obviously you are an ACC or NCState fan, which is fine, but you aint going to convince me otherwise. He is what he is, he wasn't deserving of where he got selected. I think Ben proved that.

Lithoman: I remember that game between NC State and the Buckeyes. That was the game where NC State was down a bunch of points and then came back to tie it and lost in one of the overtimes when the running back was stopped on the 1-yard line, right? Rivers was insanely awesome in that game, especially in the second-half during the comeback. What are you talking about?

The thing about the Vick's and Vince Young is that they are not great passers. Linehan throws the ball, and although Culpepper can be in the same breath as those guys in terms of scrambling, he can thorw the ball. And accurately too.

3159 yards
27 TD
7 INT's
104.8 QB Rating

That's why we didnt turn the ball over to Rivers. You have a 26 YR old QB who we believe, or really hope that the light on his head has permanently turned on. With our history in QB's (#16), besides team ramifications (chemistry); it would be an absolute P.R. NIGHTMARE!

We can work around the Cap, there's always ways to work around the cap, as proven again by the faikers. Also keep in mind the new CBA in 2007. I like the problem, Brees or Rivers! It sure as hell beats what we've had for the past decade.

Moses Moreno or Craig Wheelihan
Ryan Leaf or Craig Wheelihan

Well you get the point. I personally dont mind having Rivers back there just in case. AJ Smith has done a wonderful job with keeping the cap the way it is, and the status of the young team....Now if he can just figureout what the hell is going on in our kickers head, Id be extremely happy. But not too worried about him, he'll be alright.

Just say NO to Vick and his older brother on the Falcons...we need a QB
not a guy masquarading as a QB who fumbles allthe time, or a guy getting arrested at college for smoking dump, doing minors, and being a thug.

100% agreed. Also as for the Brees thing not to bring up bad memories but yet another drafting mistake by the fins... As I believe not getting Loseman will be, yada yada yada...

Marcus Vick? :shakeno: :alert: :hitself: IMO this guy is a pain in the *** waiting to happen. But on the up side, he already has a rap sheet started so he wouldn't have to start a new one if he gets here. He'd be worse than Lawrence Phillips and Cecil Collins combined.

I think Vick is overratted in a major way, so does this mean i will think is brother is even more overratted?

if hes so overrated why does every team try and stop him and only him....His legs and speed make-up for his average passing...i would take vick anyday

Geez Green Monster: You're still at this? As Ive said plenty of times, VICK is A VERY GOOD PLAYER; ok AMAZING ATHLETE..BUT AS A QB, he is average!

If you're a stats guy, look at the numbers. If you're not, look at the results. Whenever Vick gets contained, whether it be "spy's" or zone schemes, or 5 man fronts, or hell, even 8 man front rotations to keep fresh, he is not your AMAZING QB. Yes, the ultimate is to win games, but when passes are needed to be made, especially in their WCO, Vick does not shine.

Why do you think people kept criticizing ATL playcalling last year? Everyone was wondering, why turn Vick into a QB, he simply is not. how many times did you hear this last year? Let the kid do what he's capable of, and thats to run around in the backfield like a RB. In other words, VICK can't run the WCO.

I think you're using GREAT QB a little too loosely, AVERAGE QB; GREAT ATHLETE.

Just to say it one more time: VICK IS AN AMAZING PLAYER THAT CAN LEAD HIS TEAM TO WIN, but as a QB, he is average.

Vick may not be the best passer, but he is an elite player in the league. I think you're looking too much into the fact that Vick is not a great passer, but the guy had nearly 1000 yds rushing, and without him the Falcons are one of the worst teams in the league. Teams gameplan for him, and when it works, which seems to be rare he gets ripped up, but he's just too good of an athelete.

I dont disagree with you one bit...as Ive said, the guy is an AMAZING/ELITE/SUPERMAN Athete, or whatever it is you want to call him. Im just pointing out that as a QUARTERBACK, he is average if that.

Didn't his little brother get thrown off the team for buying underage age girls beer? Now what respectable college guy hasn't gotten a case or two for some freshman girls?
