If Jason Taylor was to solidify the defense one more year the Dolphins could have a dominate defense . Zach Thomas is gone and the Fins need the veteran defensive leadership to be strong in 2008. Taylor could be the Starting OLB/DE and with the possibility of Chris Long being drafted there is much more depth at that position. I could imagine a rotation of Taylor,Roth, Holliday and Long at Defensive end that would be sick! Yes I Know that The Fins will have four LB's in 2008 but Taylor is better at DE period. I also realize that Taylor could be used to get a draft pick but when has that been a sure thing? Anyway since Zach is gone it would be nice to have Jason Taylor one more year on the Dolphins defense.:D:up::D

Yeah, yeah, yeah..... Same tired arguement for keeping Jason around. There are other veterans on this team that can take leadership roles, if need be. What good does it do having Jason Taylor around for one more year, in what will probably be a non-playoff year for the Dolphins? How does keeping him around help these young guys going towards the future?

Sure, keeping him in a Dolphins uniform for one more year might make me feel all warm and fuzzy for a season, but after the season is over the effect has worn off. These young guns who have long careers ahead of them as Miami Dolphins deserve to be surrounded by good football players that will be there with them for the long haul, guys that will help be a part of bringing the Miami Dolphins back to being the cream of the crop in the NFL. I'm tired of "warm and fuzzy moments", I want too see these young guns be a part of something special.

Trading Jason Taylor gives this team a much needed draft pick/picks that will be instumental in the rebuilding of the Dolphins. That pick could wind up being another WR for John Beck, a young OL that will help create running lanes for Ronnie Brown, another speedy WR opposite of Ted Ginn, etc. This organization failed Jason and Zach on numerous occasions. While it's too late to start winning again with Jason, it's not too late for the future of this team. Let's not fail to capitalize on these young guys talents like previous regimes did with Jason and Zach.

Trading Jason Taylor, while parting ways is tough. It is the right thing to do going forward.

I couldn't agree anymore. Don't get me wrong, I think Jason Taylor has a couple of GOOD years of football left in him. Nobody really wants him to go but if it's beneficial to the team then why not? Trade the man to a playoff contender other than the Pats. He's poured his heart and soul into this Miami Dolphins team and IMO he deserves a shot to win it all before his time is over.

It doesn't make sense to keep him because he has good years left in him. The whole point of trading him is so you can get value for him, and no team is going to trade for him if he doesn't have good years left in him anymore. This team is going nowhere right now, which is why Jason Taylor serves no purpose on this team except to be a very good player, on a bad team making a lot of money. If Taylor has a down year this year, 4 sacks, now we cant trade him for anything. Because we kept him off of a pro-bowl year for no reason except sentimental value for fans.
