Dolphins signed 6'5 210 pound receiver Stephen Williams today. Williams had a good pre-season with Seattle last season and is similar to Brian Tyms.

I'm beginning to think that Hickey might have a touch of dyslexia where when he sees "available WR" - his synapses fire off as "available RB"

Lol what is that like WR number 20

Bust signing. Doesnt Hickey know we have Brian Hartline? He has 2, not 1, but 2 1k yard seasons. What dont you understand about that Hickey!?!?! 2 is better then 1, which is better than 0.

Learn to 1k yards Hickey.

Everybody laughs now, but when Miami breaks out it's new 10-wide set this season it will be unstoppable.

OK Patrick that was scary that we posted that at the same time.

6'5" is a number none of Miami's other receivers have. If you were looking for a red zone target that dude might be one. What's the worst that can happen? He stinks and is gone.

Chances are Isaiah Pead wont make the Rams team. Any interest in him? 2nd rounder in 2012 I believe

Is this the same Stephen Williams from the Jags? I'm confused.

#Dolphins signed WR Stephen Williams (Toledo) and DB Demetrius Wright (USC). Waived WR Ryan Lankford (Illinois).

Stephen Williams / Toledo was at the 2014 combine, not sure if we signed the Stephen Williams from the Jags who also played for Toledo.

Overview

Williams is a good sized receiver with excellent ball skills but is very raw and will need a lot of work when it comes to running routes and setting defenders up. He has natural hands as well as the ability to react and adjust to slightly off-target throws and should find his early success as an inside red zone receiver that can use his size and ball skills to catch the ball over the middle and in traffic. He will high point catches and shows excellent concentration and competitiveness when in a crowd. He tends to telegraph his cuts and can be a bit choppy in and out of his breaks.
Analysis
Strengths
Very tall with a wide frame and good bulk. Has large soft hands and catches the ball away from his chest. Fluid in the air and uses his body to shield defenders and grab passes in traffic. High points the ball well and is a mismatch in the red zone.
Weaknesses
Route running skills are very raw and he struggles to separate from defenders. Does not disguise his routes and leads defenders to the ball. Lacks premier top-end speed and does not stretch the field. Stays high and lacks the lateral agility to consistently make plays after the catch.

Know what number Williams doesnt have? 1k yards. Brian Hartline does. He did it twice. Let me repeat that: he did it twice.

Who needs a red zone target when you have a wide receiver who has two 1000 yard seasons? Hes Tannehill's best weapon and he has two 1000 yard seasons and so we shouldnt be signing receivers. Horrible job Hickey, horrible job, know whats on your roster buddy.

egnew is 6'5". not a WR, but he does have the height, and could be a redzone target. he's just lacking some talent. Just because you are 7 ft tall, doesn't mean you can play basketball.
