Dolphins sign Larry Borom

AJ was considered a JAG before Butch and McD, but he didn’t play in 2022. And Eich is definitely a scrub. Brandon Shell, a starter in 2022, hasn’t played another game since 2022. Scrub. So 3 out of the 5 were considered non-starting caliber players. And Armstead missed 4-5 games that year.
But NOT at the start of 23! Williams went down Eich to center and down went tht ship.

I agree with this, he will definitely be moved inside to backup, or possibly start if he miraculously proves to be better then expeced (With emergency Tackle expectation), and Miami will be bringing in more line help to compete for a starting job (At the very least, the draft).

Never heard of him and his PFF numbers look horrible but Kyle Crabbs seems to think he has promise as a guard after watching his tape.

Hopefully this is G3 and isn’t their plan for a starting guard.

The story of Miami Dolphin linemen. They suck. Their stats suck. PFF says they suck.

But hey, there's promise there. This is how we were stuck with Eichenberg for 4 freaking years.

We gave Eich a chance at every position, looks like it's Borom's turn now. Hey, anything to not actually have to invest in the o line right?

Eric Smith who does contribution for 5 Reasons Sports had a good breakdown of Borom's play. Not saying he is this or will make the team, but with his ability in run game I can see a pathway where he can revitalize his career as a guard. But as Eric says a bunch in his video, at tackle he has bad feet in space and the Bears system hangs him out to dry a lot

I'm good with this signing if he is going to be a backup OG but not OT. He was terrible at OT last year but was decent at OG early in his career.

A lot of people forget about how well the OL played in 2022 before they were decimated by injuries. And that was with Eich and a few other scrubs. Butch is a hell of a coach and most Dolphins fans were praising his work… again before the injuries.

I think Butch can field at least an average OL, as long as most of the starters stay healthy, no matter the players. Continuity is a big factor and something they’ve lacked.

(Edit: Changed year from 2023 to 2022
In 2022, the OL coach was Applebaum, not Butch.

Connor was injured twice in 23. First was a groin pull in the NYG game, missed a few, came back, picked up where he left off, and then done for good at the beginning of the Tenn game. I saw a stat for the 23 season that when Connor was in the lineup, regardless of the other 4 starters, the team averaged over 6 per carry. When he was out, regardless of the other 4, the team averaged 3.5.

This is a one-year deal worth $2.5MM, according to Over the Cap. That figure is guaranteed in full. Borom has seen sparse usage at guard during his career, but for the most part he has operated as a tackle.

The soon-to-be 26-year-old made at least four starts every year during his time in Chicago. Borom primarily operated at right tackle during his first two years, and his 67.4 PFF grade from 2022 was the highest of his Bears tenure. He played exclusively on the blindside the following season and again saw most of his time at left tackle in 2024.
