Dolphins sign OL Chandler Burden, waive Dustin Waldron

I am no wiser now than before I read this thread! Thanks for posting, but I never heard of them either...

Won the state championship in the shot put and discus as a senior, in addition to playing both offense and defense as an Ohio prep. Saw action in six games in 2008 as a backup defensive end but did not record any statistics. Appeared in all 13 games, making three starts at defensive end, and notched nine tackles, half a tackle for loss and no sacks with one pass batted down in ’09. Asked to be switched to the offensive line for the ’10 season and started 11-of-12 games played at left tackle. Missed the BBVA Compass Bowl and most of ’11 spring practice while recovering from shoulder surgery.

Summary: A strong, hardworking, determined, converted defensive end, Burden who loves to play and it shows, as he brings his lunch pail to work and seeks the extra block. Intelligent, tough, competitive, team-first player with enough athletic ability to consider his intangible makeup and give him a shot to earn a job.

Damn....disappointing. I was a big fan of Waldron pre-draft. He's undersized (weight) and needs strength, but he is extremely athletic based on the tape i saw of him. I thought he'd be a perfect fit for this offense and land a spot on the practice squad b/c he's definitely a developmental player. But i still thought highly of his potential. Guess he didn't show enough for the coaches to agree.
