The Miami Dolphins officially signed WR Tyler Murphy to a future/reserve contract on Tuesday.
Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and training camp.
Murphy, 24, signed on with the Steelers back in as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College. He’s in the first year of his four-year, $1.579 million rookie contract included a $4,500 signing bonus.
Murphy was waived a month into the season to make room for RB Le’Veon Bell, who has been reinstated from his suspension. Since then, he was on and off of their practice squad.
In 2015, Murphy appeared in two games and caught one pass for 16 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
