Coach Tony Sparano named sixth-round rookie Donald Thomas the Dolphins' starting right guard on Tuesday.

Thomas impressed right away and has played with the first team offense since the second week of camp. The Dolphins' offensive line is now set. It'll be Jake Long, Justin Smiley, Samson Satele, Thomas, and Vernon Carney

Donald Thomas was a huge surpise this year and Langford is looking like a very solid pick as well.... Add Big Jak and this line has the ability of sticking together a real Long tme.

he did say he wanted to name five starters as early as possible and let them grow together and form some cohesion. good call coach, and nice work donald thomas. jake long being taken for granted as our bookend stud left tackle from pretty much day 1 is awesome and what we were all hoping for (i'm sure).

we also learned today that the starting WRs are going to be Ginn and Hagan unless hagan completely ****s the bed the next game...

and PS that excites the hell out of me for some reason... i mean i just envision this young athletic fast WR starting duo giving team fits for years... i hope it works out that way!

extend Mount Vernon ASAP!!! Put all this cap space to use this year and throw Vernon's $$ into it! He'd be our "oldest" starter on the line at 27

Man, what a pick thomas turned out to be. A 6 round draft pick starting in his rookie year! i love parcells.

how's the prior #66 doing that everyone wanted resigned????

exactly thank you. dude check out hte posts i have, I told ppl how bad hadnot is no one listened and they said hes a top G. Then I said Thomas will be very good cuz hes a strong body and a good G and no one listened.

Boy do some ppl on boards need to realize there are some ppl out there that know what they are talking about cuz that will prevent bandwagoners from occuring.

and Langford was by far a steal and ppl were upset at that pick. I dono if they know much or they just want the big names they hear on ESPN to be in miami. Every player on our team from long, merling, henne, and langford are going to be HITS if not potentially the best on our team, then thomas is going to be very good and murphy if nething will be a back up if he doesnt pan out to be a starter. either way this draft is rock solid wiht potential to be great. only time will tell but the cieling is very high on these gentlemen.

I like how Sparano said today that he is going to play the two rookies on the line until their tongues fall off.. LOL

We really are quite lucky that Donald Thomas jumped out to such an early and commanding lead in this race. The fact that these five guys will have worked together for the entire training camp should pay dividends during the regular season. It already appears to be doing so just in preseason. They will have their bumps and bruises, Jake Long will completely whiff on Paul Spicer and get Patrick Cobbs tackled in the backfield, or Donald Thomas will miss a blitz pickup or two...but this starting five have been moving people and keeping the QBs relatively clean.

It is a huge upgrade over our line from last year. The improved guard play is the most dramatic, but clearly both tackle positions were upgraded.

Personally IMHO if someone better than Smiley becomes available, the stone will be broke.

this is the best our offensive line has been age and talent wise in ten years or longer, i would extend Carey also, then you are set for five years
