Dolphins struggling to keep season-ticket base at 30,000

Not cool. Everyone knows the NFL wants a team in Los Angeles. Minnesota could very well end up there.

They will lose the team but not the Franchise...Other then Long Pouncey and Davis i could only wish 1/2-3/4 of the team was gone.
 
The thing is only half of those 30,000 actually show up,
 
One thing that does not help any team is that fans are not "local" anymore. If you look at fan post of where Dolphin fans live (or even NY Jets fans for example) they are now all over the nation and even overseas. Add to that the fact that people in South Florida tend not to support anything with a lot of heart, maybe again because it is a make up of people from everywhere.

(I'm so old that I remember when the Dolphin were the only NFL team in Florida and their games were broadcast where I live in Gainesville)

One last problem for Dolphin fans has been how hard and now costly it is to even go to games. From trying to find parking for the old Orange Bowl to the added fees to going now.

And even when I'm able to go I want a recorded version on my DVR so i can watch "the tape" over and over.
 
Actually i think ross has made strides to get things going again. Reguardless of how good we become under philbin, atleast u can say ross is trying. If he would have kept sparano u'd have a case not to support the team. If i could could go to the games i would support the new regime to the fullest, no doubt about it. Im impressed with philbin and everything that he says. Tony never gave any fans any reason to go to the games, he never showed a passion for winning. It was more of a "do enough to keep my job" attitude.. Philbin is the opposite of that with a much higher intelligence level than our last coach. People have to also remember, if matt moore had started last year, there is a great chance we almost make playoffs. Henne was and is still the worst qb in the league, think about that. Moore put up touchdowns, wasnt afraid to let that pigskin go. so if you add all that up

+2 New coach New aggresive smart philosophy from a championship respected franchise Green bay.
+2 the #8 pick in the draft in a few days, we could get a possible franchise qb, floyd, cliaborne, whoever drops and get another pro bowl playmaker.
+1 Got rid of 1 of the worse coaches in the nfl and one of the worst qbs in the nfl.
+1 Traded away a wr who dropped touchdowns passes for breakfast, dinner, and lunch and also facing suspensions this year.
+1Team is extra motivated by the new coach, mcdaniels, smith, bess, all cut there dreads that they have had for years.

Conclusion : I dont know about the rest of dolphins fans, but i havent been this excited for some dolphins football since marino retired. There is no doubt we are going to be much better, the question is, how much better?

There is no doubt in my mind that the above sentiment was felt by a significant portion of the fanbase when Saban arrived, when Cameron arrived, when Parcells and his two stooges arrived, and probably when Jim Bates took over from Wanny. Dan Marino retired last century and since then it's been one playoff win, one failed regime after another, and lots of bad football. Let's all hope that this time they've finally righted the ship, but there's plenty of reason to be skeptical.
 
It's a boring (opinion), losing (fact) product. I don't blame anyone who decides to forego season tickets and blow their money watching us play games where we have a hard time breaking 20 pts. Miami may be "fair weather" fans, but we don't blindly throw our money at something just because you slap a Miami/ Florida title on it. The local TV markets for the Marlins, Panthers, and Heat are all some of the tops in the league; the fans are there. Personally i'm still in school and don't have the money to purchase season tickets, but I plan on buying season tickets once i establish myself. If the product is still this bad (boring), i may reconsider.
 
This is EXACTLY what SHOULD be happening... Call them 'fair weather'... 'Band wagon' whatever you want, just don't call the fans idiots... It's called ACCOUNTABILITY... This franchise went 0-7 out of the gate last year... the season was literally OVER before the half way point... And some of those losses (Cleveland, Denver, New England) were so abysmal it was beyond EMBARRASSING... The players showed such little fight and such great lack of character it was appalling... There was not even a young QB to watch lose...

Ownership needed to take a page from the fans handbook and show some ACCOUNTABILITY... that this type of losing would NOT be tolerated... But in what has been so typical of this franchise they got it half right... By keeping Ireland they washed away the excitement generated by the hiring of Philbin... By keeping Ireland they actually lost the opportunity for a 'new beginning'... To give the fans a clean slate... And to show that LOSING WOULD NOT BE TOLERATED AT ANY LEVEL.

What should have been a new beginning is now just another bizarre offseason without a definable blueprint of any kind... It seems they are adrift... A desperate owner... A GM on borrowed time who is a PR nightmare... And a 'new' coach surrounded by question marks... 'Desperate' is a very good word to describe this franchise... And worst of all what is so tragically ironic... is that they cannot even get their team to play that way. :bobdole:

No, you really wouldn't. I'm only an hour 1/2 shot from the stadium and I haven't gone in about 7 years. I used to have season tickets, but literally just about every time I went we lost. The drive isn't fun after a loss and it's too much money to pay to see someone suck.

What do you have to do with me? I said if I was down there I'd go. That's all there is to it. It isn't too much money b/c I'm not one to go and spend money on beer and tons of food.
