Dolphins | Team could go with S. Morris if R. Williams is suspended
Tue, 18 Apr 2006 08:37:46 -0700
Jeff Darlington, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Miami Dolphins RB Sammy Morris could be used as the team's backup to RB Ronnie Brown if RB Ricky Williams gets suspended for the 2006 season. Morris' agent, Mark Slough, said general manager Randy Mueller made it clear the team would be comfortable if Morris was the backup. Slough added, "That's the impression I was given — if Ricky isn't there, Sammy is the guy that would be the backup. That's what he's been told. We believe that to be the case."

Sammy started for us in the last year of Wanny so he's fine. I'd rather have what Ricky brings to the table though but Sammy's no slouch either. That's one of the reasons why we re-signed him.

Sammy was the only bright spot on offense in Wanny's last year, I wouldn't mind seeing him backup Ronnie.

Morris will be a great back up if Ricky doesn't return. I'm still amazed that he pulled off a 4.0 avg in Wanny's last season. Morris was a great signing and i'm glad he's back.

If Ricky is gone (which I believe he will be- unfortunately) I think S. Morris will be a fine backup. Especially if he never has to start a game.

ricky will be fine, and he will be back playing here for at least one more season. this whole thing is ridiculous. of course if he aint im fine with sammy.

I've said it numerous times: if Sammy Morris can stay healthy, he'd be a consistent 1100 - 1350 yard runner as a starter.

i completely agree if u ask me i tell everyone tha asks about him that hes a beast cuz honestly every opprotunity he gets to touch the ball he runs with heart and aggression n i like that in a back. he always gives it 120% n i would love him in any role saban feels fit

Sammy Morris is probably one of the most underrated runners in the leauge. Hes not a 1300 yd back most likley but hes very solid. Anyone who can average 4 ypc with one of the worst O-Lines ever to assemble on an NFL field(no exaggeration) is good by my book.

The knock on Sammy is that he lacks great field vision and that he also runs very upright, which makes him more susceptible to bigger hits. He has a good set of hands and is a load to take down. I am more than happy to have him as backup.

No kidding. That was really impressive. Sammy is a crucial part of the team, because he is a more-than-adequate back-up tailback, and he can also play fullback if needed.

sammy is a good back but there is nothing lke having ricky will coming out of the backfield full blast

You aren't the only one. Morris is a quite guy and you never hear anything about him. He always goes out and does his thing to help the team. He is defintion of a "team" player and I will be fine with him being the backup if Ricky does get suspended.
