Dolphins | Team still taking trade for Harrington
Sat, 8 Apr 2006 20:00:13 -0700
Jason Cole and Christina Hoag, of the Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins are continuing to talk with the Detroit Lions about a trade for Lions QB Joey Harrington.

Sounds good, but if the Lions are still insisting on a 3rd or 4th rounder, it ain't going to happen. As I understand it, we are offering either a 7th rounder this year or perhaps a 6th rounder in 2007, but will not budge from that postion and rightly so, unike Wanny and co. giving away a 2nd rounder for Feely. It just depends on how long the Lions want to risk dragging this out, 'cos every day that passes risks Saban and co. pulling the trigger on the Martin or another backup plan.

thanks. its apparently for a 6th round ipck for 2007. i think we'll get it done by monday/tues. get all this out of the way by the time RW hearing on monday

getting Harrington and Arrington would really free us up in the draft

yea and be one of hte best FA in history I believe personally. if you ask me this is a coach that wants to win it NEXT YEAR IN MIAMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

imagine what we can do via draft now.

Complete flexibity to take the best player available and or trade down and gather picks would be sweet! And remember SABAN has an added avantage in the daft these next couple of years because of his intimate familiarity of SEC players.

Saban and company have changed this teams image faster than anyone could have possibly imagines. Wanny is still hurting this team with the contract incentives that esculated due to Miami's winning streak to close the season.

I thought I read a statement from Mueller early in the year that they thought Miami would have 12 million to spend in FA and draft after the season and that was with limited cuts. That didn't happen, Saban and Co. had to switch games plans and make trades to improve since they didn't have the funds to get guys through FA. This all appears to have started with the Brees talks that stalled and caused Miami to miss out on FA moves that Saban couldn't make due to not knowing how much he had to sign players to if Brees did come to Miami. Could also be the news from the doctors on Bree's shoulder. I think it was a little of both.

Under these circumstances I think Saban has done one hell of job to get the Dolphins to this point and still be in position to draft BPA in the draft and nice throw a dart like Wanny. Sabans 3rd and 4th season should be a lot of fun to watch. He should have most his guys playing that were drafted or he signed and the draft will be something we don't trade away since Saban doesn't seem to make quick decision on player moves without looking at all options.

Most if not all FA signings have taken awhile because Saban won't over pay for a player but yet most have seem very interested in what Miami has and have heard a lot about the winning attitude that is coming from players. Even with all the news NOTHING seems to be coming from players and asst. coaches. Saban is getting repect from players and coaches and others are noticing that Miami seems poised for big things.

Saban is the smartest coach we've had since Shula in the early days. He's moving this franchise step by step toward a superbowl, and it'll be a home game if it happens this year!!!

if we sign haring n aring would this be nice

draft 1: DB
3:OL
4:WR

also you guys are forgetting 1 thing saban did for maimi in the off season, he signed 3(i think) coaches that were head coaches last year(to think of it,inno if he signed them or the owner)

what draft? Don't get me wrong...I'm just making a joke, Saban did a good job the way he's used the picks, I'm just saying, I won't bother watching. Won't be all that exciting.

I respectfully disagree, I think our first 3 picks will be contributors

I think we might hit on 1 of the 7th rounders, it will be interesting to see what sleepers we can grab

Hell, Zach was a 5th rounder who was supposed to be a special teams guy :)

(granted we don't have a 5th this year but....anyway)

Well I think its the GM's desicion to hire and fire coaches, Coach Saban sure as hell has a say in personnel matters thats for sure. Dom Capers and Mike Mularkey were hired as our new OC and DC, and they are both good as coordinators.

not on this club, your second sentence IMO, is the correct one.
