I'm sure I am not the first one to wonder about this: Why don't the Fins draft any Hurricane players? The rest of the NFL loves 'em (ie: Houston has 6 Canes) but we seem to ignore them. This isn't just a recent thing but going all the way back to the Shula years as well. Saints TE && former U TE) Jimmy Graham is a perfect example. He's the kind of seam thret TE this offense has lacked since the days of Keith Jackson. He could have been had for a 4th round but we pass. I love Zach Thomas but JJ passed up Ray Lewis for ZT. Speil-Stedt moves up to take Carey when Vince Woolfork is available. I am sure there are other examples. What is it that the Fins can't see that the rest of the NFL can. I don't get it (SMH).

We drafted Vernon Carey!

That counts, right?

Jimmy Graham was a project when the Saints drafted him. Lucky for them, it worked. The University of Miami hasn't had an elite NFL player since Frank Gore and Jon Beason entered the league. The talent has been decimated.

We will probably draft Jacory Harris if that makes you feel better.

Would not mind Lamar Miller in a few years. Dude can run the ball.

When the star players from Miami were entering the draft we were never picking high enough to draft them.

Who wouldn't want a team with Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, Greg Olson, Jeremy Shockey, Jimmy Graham, Frank Gore, Willis McGahee, Clinton Portis, Ed Reed, Ray Lewis and the rest? Just not going to happen.

Vernon Carey, Randall Hill ( Miami didnt draft him but did sign him) Yatil Green. Back when big Vince was drafted Miami was playing a 43, we didnt need a big NT at the time. There are alot of great Miami hurricanes players but there have been just as many busts.... Mike Rumph anyone?

we've tried. yatil green, randal "thrill" hill (who thankfully turned into the draft pick that became troy vincent, i believe), melvin bratton, big vernon.

We also had Dedrick Epps in camp this year, he was from the U!

The NFL is not a pipeline for local schools. Teams look for the best talent only.

The last player from the U I wanted was Sean Taylor. No need to explain myself on that one.

Beason I thought was to small to play LB in the NFL. I was wrong but now the injuries are starting to pile up.

Not much corn being grown in the dade county area. Why pick up a speed player which miami is usually known for when you can get a slower but corn fed player from the midwest

They're not cornfed enough like the B1G players Miami likes to draft.

beat me to it

Can you imagine how unstoppable our D would be if we had just drafted Daryl Sharpton? If we had signed Damien Berry and Graig Cooper this offseason we would have likely had the most feared running game this league has seen in decades.

I really wanted Jimmy Graham I knew he was going to do something in the nfl, a low risk high reward pickup since he was unpolished but very promising in only one year of football.
