- There are folks in Detroit who believe that GM Matt Millen is angry enough with quarterback Joey Harrington after Harrington professed his love for the Dolphins that Millen might make Harrington wait until June 14 before letting him go rather than trade Harrington now. Perhaps, but look for common sense to overcome that and for the Lions to eventually accept a 2007 sixth-round pick for Harrington by next week.

-The Dolphins are nothing if not thorough in evaluating prospects. The team recently had mid- to late-round candidate Michael Robinson in for a visit. After spending 24 hours with Robinson, a former running back turned quarterback who is expected to return to a multi-purpose job, in Miami, the Dolphins sent an assistant coach to Penn State to spend another 24 hours with him.

- Linebacker LaVar Arrington's seven-year, $49 million contract isn't worth anything close to that, particularly after he received a signing bonus of only $5.25 million. In short, Arrington didn’t get anything close to what he thought he was going to get. That could continue to hurt his relationship with agents Kevin and Carl Poston.

I wonder what our offer to lavar was???

We offered 5 million a year..he'll get around 3.7 and if he hits a few escalators he'll get 5 million. There is a chance for a bump to 7 million if he hits some tough escalator clauses...Basically if the giants want to cut him before the season or even next year the cap hit will be pretty small.

I think he just wanted to play the redskins twice a year...

I think you're correct. I believe that was the deciding factor when all was said and done.

Ive said the same thing in a previous post. When a team will pay you well and you get to stay in the same Conference and division then revenge can be a serious motivator. Its a chance to show he can still cut the mustard and prove his doubters wrong.

I don't believe the Fins ever offered $5 million.
Revenge is great but Cash is king.

I agree. I don't hold that against him. I think Miami would have been the better career choice for him though.

What position would Saban use Michael Robinson for ? QB project or other? And where is he projected to go in the draft?

Thanks for the update.

I hope Millen's anger doesn't force us to wait until June. That would be very bad since Harrington would miss all the may mini camps.

As for Robinson, I wouldn't mind using a second day pick on him. As a Penn State fan I can say he definitely has some skills. He will never be a NFL quarterback, but he could make for a decent WR.

micheal robinson, wr penn st selected by miami in the 4th rd

if we draft robinson in the 4th, and as a WR, then thats a waste of a 4th round pick imo.

it will take us more time than its worth to develop him into any kind of threat at WR when we have MANY other options available in other parts of the draft and free agency.

Millen is tryingto get as much as possible - the offer is a 6th rd pick NEXT year - what's the hurry for him. Now I would hope Saban's offer says it has to be done by the start of minicamp or it's pulled. There needs to be a deadline for the offer otherwise why wouldn't Millen wait. At some point he has to decide a 6th or nothing. I think he is in a no win situation - he gets lasted if he only gets a 6th next year and he gets destroyed if he gets nothing! Of course he has been the worst GM the last 5 years so what's another bad move going to say about him.
Robinson is intriguing in the Randle El mold if he is there in the 7th. We would NOT watse a pick higher I don't believe because we don't have that many picks unless we trade down and get more. He may just fall into the 6th to 7th because right now he has no position.
I don't believe we made a formal offer to Lavar because if we did his agent would have blabbed it all over the place - that is the Postons style - they are idiots! Why would Saban ever let out what it is - No Way - I am sure they talked #'s but I don't see with the gap they had that Miami would have bothered making a formal offer. Saban is too secretive - why play your hand before you knew it was pretty much a done deal?

Nub (as a fellow PSU fan) can probably attest, the only reason that we would pickup Robinson would be Mularkley. If he needs another RandallL kinda guy, than maybe Mike's name would be called in the 7th. As a PSU fan, I believe before that 7th round would probably be a stretch. He def. showed guts and leadership halfway through the season, but still doesn't possess the entire package. Noone will draft him as a QB.
