Dolphins to workout Louis Vasquez

Coming to Miami on Wednesday will be Texas Tech guard Louis Vasquez.
A third-team AP All-America selection in 2008, Vasquez has the kind of size (6-5, 330) the Dolphins regime likes in its offensive lineman.

He shined at the combine with 39 reps in the bench press, the highest total among offensive linemen.

Vasquez initially was believed to be a mid-round pick, but his stock is on the rise.

Alot you keep saying we wont draft a lineman, but the organization is determine to keep adding lineman and not just any lineman Mammoth Lineman as I like to call them. Louis Vasquez much like Paul Holdnot, Herman Johnson and Jason Watkins is 6-5 or bigger and over the 315's. The Trifecta is gonna beef up our line and the more I read the more I know guys like Satele and Alleman are on the outs.
 
Vazquez isnt going in the first 3 rounds. i think thats what most people are trying to say. we arent going to draft OL in the first few rounds. we do still need depth. mostly at the Tackle spot, but guards depth could be better. but its not a need at this point IMO.
 
It is a need. Miami needs to add depth and young players we dont know what we have in Donald Thomas he only played one game. Berger was a backup signing and guys like Alleman, Fyre and Satele might be gone. You have your starter in Long,Smiley,Grove, Thomas (hopefully), Carey, but behind them all you have is Ndukwe. I have come to the decision that eventually whether we want it or not Satele is gonna be gone. We dont have back Tackles and we need depth at G. Miami will be draft a lineman in the later rounds a G/T prospect. That is why they are all over guys like Herman Johnson, Paul Loadholt, Jason Watkins and Louis Vasquez.

its a need but yet you even admit we will wait til the later rounds to pick another lineman? if we wait until later in the draft, that proves its not a need........

you always want to add depth and young players, thats an obvious statement.
 
I personally feel you address all your needs via the Draft and FA.

i fail to understand how backup Guard is a need when we have currently on our roster, 3 guys capable being plugged into the guard position and being decent?

it would be great to have 54 great players, but it just doesnt happen

alright, we picked up one backup guard and replaced our center since that game. if we are going to go into every season banking on our interior line being destroyed by injuries, then are we going to do the same thing for every position?

Correct! Any OL picked will be from the 4th round to undrafted free agents and if drafted, most likely will be an OT capable of playing guard or possibly a G capable of playing T.
 
We need depth on the line. Do you pick those player absolutely not, but you have to pick em, because maybe if we would have had a player capable of filling in for Smiley we might have gone a little further. When Smiley went down I was surprise we were able to still win games. Smiley last year was a huge loss when he went down. Therefore I think we have a need at G/T. Not in round 1,2 or 3 but maybe in the 5th round.
 
obviously there bringing in people for workouts.. and even if they dont draft these later round guys they sometimes end up on practice squads.. and we can pick them up...

we DID need someone capible of filling in for Smiley incase he goes down. so we went out and picked up Berger.
