Dolphins Training Camp Report (Aug. 6th)

The difference between on our offense and defense just practicing is huge.

The defense has all the same coaches including the DC and is running the same defense.

The defense has the exact same players as last season except it replaces Crowder with a experienced ILB with K Burnett . Odrick and W Allen return from injury but have been here. And very experienced JT returns for a back up spot.

So barely a ripple is upsetting the defensive pond.

But compare that to our offense.

New OC and all new offense. And 4 other new coaches. So much to do that Sparano admitted that there is no chance they will be 100% into it by the time the season opens.

Look at our drafted players, almost all offense. Most of these new players have just started practicing. C Clay is having to learn 3 different positions. M Pouncey is going up every day against one of the best NTs in the NFL. C Gates is learning. D Thomas is brand new. R Bush just got here a few days ago. A number of players, mostly on offense, just got to start practice a couple of days ago, 11 players in all, mostly on offense. QB Matt Moore just practiced and another K O'Connell is added.

Even most of the UDFAs were on offense.Nic Grigsby, Brett Brackett, OJ Jones and Phillip Livas etc are all getting reps and are expected to make the 53.

We seem to have a new OL every day.

Our defense is so way ahead of our offense they almost cannot be compared right now.

This is like the 4th practice in a row where it would seem Henne and the offense is clicking.
It's funny what happens after 5 days of practice.

The team is not nearly as bad as some want to believe. I actually think they are gonna be pretty damn good.

Yep surprised....but it's something about Henne to Marshall, the connection isn't there. Also did Benny Sapp get secretly cut? Haven't heard anything on him in camp.

yea, seems strange that henne keeps overthrowing marshal.. Maybe thats why Marshal work all off season to get faster.

Why were they practicing on the far field today? I was hoping to see them on the close field to the bleachers.

omar kelly said lol

that they alternate playing fields to keep the grass from turning to mud
so it depends which day you go..

PHILIP LIVAS!!!!

now this is the player to me that i am watching the most [qb's are a gimme]. this regime just has not put a premium on a real bonafide return guy at the then biatch at the poor production from s-teams. just about every year since this bunch has been here there has been one of the top return guys end up in f/a or open for a trade and they dont even try. when you have a run at all costs offense and your qb is chad henne, you dont need to be starting from your own 14 yd line all the time.

livas appears to be the real deal. the films on that guy on youtube are insane. he has the moves to go with the speed and thats what makes a great return guy. so, will tony actually keep a guy and give him a month in the games or send him off and use the space for a bench riding guard, as he has done in the past.

this is the guy i am really watching and hope sparano realizes what he has and to KEEP HIM, GIVE HIM THE PROPER REPS, AND PLAY HIM SIGNIFICANTLY IN PRE SEASON, or, keep him around to develope him. this will just be another guy getting a pro bowl birth on another team if sparano doesnt keep him. seen that to many times over the last dozen years from the finz.

reggie and livas on kick returns and alternating on punts? FRIGGIN' SICK!! we have the possibility of having the most deadly return game in the nfl. from worst to first!! hey, it happens. but, only if you have a staff with vision.

livas and gates are two guys we need to keep on this team. if they dont start or get significant time right off, then for god sakes, i hope they see the massive talent of these two and actually keep and DEVELOPE some young talent for a change and not releasing it just to keep old, fat, injured guards or 15th string lb's on the roster!!

the reason why henne cant hook up with marshall is brandon is a wr who doesnt always need big seperation and qb's can just throw it to him a lot when he has a guy on him and he will make the play by using his big body and strength to sheild off the defender.

it takes a confident qb to make that throw to a "seemingly" covered guy and henne is not confident right now. he is int shy and wont throw unless a wr or te has 4 or 5 steps on his guy.

this is why orton had so much success with BM. he is confident and not afraid to make that kind of throw. many of the big possesion type wr's are like this, they dont always have 9 steps on there guy, there game is POSSESION and they can out muscles the db for the ball.

i dont think henne will ever get that kind of confidence, expecially if he thinks his job is on the line. he will look, or wait for a guy to make a break and get big seperation. and unfortunately, that rarely happens in todays nfl, the db's are to good.

i think hennes only real hope this year is if he can finally get accurate enough to hit brian hartline [a guy who ddoes get open a whole lot] and not miss miss him 8 out of 10 times. henne has missed a whole bunch of big time plays to henne either on deep fades, in routes or fly patterns. hartline is deceptively fast and knows how to hang up his defender and then make his break, expecially on fades. i havnt seen a guy run fades that well on the fins since mark clayton and irving fryer.

just need the guy pulling the trigger to hit the target and we will be in buisness!!
