Dolphins Try Out Punters

Personally, I think we should stay with Jones. He's cheaper and younger than all of them if I'm not incorrect.

Cheaper?....

I mean 200-400k really doesn't make a difference to us on a one-year deal. We have cap room, so whoever is better...

It's also believed the Dolphins auditioned several at long snapper, the position manned by rookie John Denney.

If we have questions about Denney's ability, why did we cut Perry?

If Bennett can punt like he used to I'd gladly take him, but if not I'm satisfied with Donnie Jones' play thus far.

Well you can't underestimate any amount of money you can save on the cap.

Good question. Did Perry ever land anywhere? Maybe we can re-sign him for cheap.

Personally, I think Saban is just trying to keep an eye on some guys in case anything happens to Donnie or John Denney. Don't think he wants to get rid of either of them.

Darren Bennet...hasn't played like he did back in the day...if we didnt keep jones i would say Knorr...he can blast punts left and right..and we could maybe save up Mares legs and not risk him getting hurt on kickoffs and let Knorr do them like he did in Denver

Yeah I say thats a good call, maybe a new practice squad guy. Mare has kicked punts once but we need a back up. Turk can't come back this yr.

I think we're staying with Jones and looking for backups like some other posters have said.

I would love to see the Dolphins try out Jon Ryan next year.. He is a Canadian kid and he plays with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL.. I know many of you do not care for the CFL. .But he is going to be an NFL punter probably as early as next year..

He has a 52.2 yard average with his longest of the year being an 80 yard kick... He is still young and has some learning to do.. Such as angling the ball out of bound and getting the kick off quicker.. But that can be learned... Everyone that talks about him. .coach's, players, media have said he has the best leg they have ever seen.. He will also take the ball and run with it.. He has done it many times and got the first down...

Here is a bit more about him..
