The most intriguing prospect of all, Jordan maintains he's a DE, but defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle said the team would look at all options in the offseason. Jordan, of course, was a 3-4 LB in college, and the Dolphins play a 4-3 scheme

Well the past options have been bullsh*t so I don't see a reason to keep banging our heads against the wall. The only option left is LB, where he belongs. Coyle cannot have made it this far being that thick headed.

Trim the weight, get the quickness back and for god sake learn the playbook

Too heavy right now, hopefully we can get him down in that 260 range so he can regain some of that quickness. I'll never forget him being so out of breath at the end of that blocked kick. Coaches have to see that he is grabbing air in practice . . . he couldn't handle the weight.

I love the idea of Jordan/McCain at SLB . . . and even getting both of those guys on the field in critical pass rush situations. If you do this, then you can draft an edge rusher at 14 and really give teams something to think about. Just send them from everywhere.

I think Miami roles with Misi/Sheppard at MLB and Jenkins/Tripp at WILL. I don't think we'll be in a position to upgrade that MIKE in 2015.

My biggest concern still remains in the secondary. Delmas' health and for the love of god can somebody step up opposite of Grimes.

Dion Jordan should be traded to the Eagles for OG Evan Mathis. Dion Jordan's old Oregon coach Chip Kelly runs a 3-4 defense in Philly. Dion Jordan would thrive as a 3-4 OLB.

I can't make that trade straight up . . . Philly's gotta give me a day 2 pick as well. Dion's still talented as hell, we've just misused him. Can't trade him for a 33 year old guard, even if he is a solid one. Plus you have to take on the Mathis contract and you actually take a larger hit for Dion if you trade him.

I could imagine Philly would love that deal.

Evan Mathis is not just a "solid one". He's consistently rated the best ZBS guard on the NFL, and playing in the same offense that OC Bill Lazor came from. He would automatically fit in.

As we saw with the other offseason moves (Stills vs Wallace, Jordan Cameron vs Charles Clay), Tannenbaum is looking for pieces that fit the system. Dion Jordan doesn't fit. Evan Mathis does.

Even in the BEST case scenario, Dion Jordan is a part-time player for us for 2 years, then goes to 3-4 defense in free agency. I say part-time player, since the 3rd LB position is basically a part-time position (in the modern NFL, we often face 3 or 4 WR sets, so we often go nickel, and replace the 3rd LB with slot CB Brice McCain).

So a slightly pessimistic scenario with Evan Mathis (only puts in one solid year as a starter) is still better than a wildly optimistic scenario with Dion Jordan.

Yea he would . . . he'll also be 34 in the middle of the season and last year the knee started acting up and he only played in 9 games. When that age hits, those problems start happening. Dion's worth more than that . . . whether some want to believe that or not.

And Dion Jordan failed two drug tests, suspended 6 games total, and the next failed drug test will incur an even longer suspension (like how repeat offenders Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon ended up getting suspended for a whole season).

The difference is that in those 9 games that Evan Mathis played in, he was the best ZBS guard in the NFL, even after his injury.

Meanwhile, Dion Jordan spent most of his active roster games as a backup player.

People seem to conveniently forget about his suspensions...even if he did play OLB in a 3-4 he would still probably get himself suspended anyway. The guy was a complete waste of a pick...thanks Ireland!
