It seems to me---best-case scenario---the ’07 Phins Phinish with a winning record (i.e., 9-7) and based on the Peter Principal find a wave into the playoffs! But, upon a serious reality chuckle, most likely this team will swim sideways too much and Flounder to a losing record --- probably around 7-9.
My crystal football tells me there are far too many ???’s to legitimately foresee this team becoming “highly competitive,†and most likely we will still lose a few games against “winnable†competition. That means (gazing through the fog) “more losses than wins, and yet another season without a clear indication of a super Fin on the horizon.â€Â
But, but…all is NOT lost!
I for one would consider the year a significant success if we add a payload of young talent via the draft and produce a REAL OL. We also need to see significant on-the-field production from our existing young talent including: Roth, Toledo, one of the Wright’s, Hagan, Alabi, Evans, and Jason Allen (who needs to prove he wasn’t a waste of draft potential).
The Dolphins “young talent†is really a big part of this teams collective UNKNOWN quantity. And there are almost as many questions as there are roster spots, and it’s unrealistic to expect all questions solved positively this year. And let’s not forget our biggest question --- the QB position, where even the Amazing Kreskin is clueless.
Could CPep become ALL-Pro again? Could CPep prove washed-up? Could CPep prove better, but still not “right.†How about Lemon? Is he a for-real NFL QB, or just a wannabe? Will the Fins snag the second coming of Marino in the draft, or will we sign Trent Green who promptly plays like he’s 27, not 37?
Oh yea, will this be the year Ronnie Brown proves he’s an elite NFL back?
I think he will if (?-?-?) the Dolphins build the power OL he needs. As I gaze into me crystal football, I believe that’s Cam’s #1 priority for this season. Furthermore, if that’s not his #1 priority, I predict his tenure will be tenuous.
