Zach's not the weekest link. Looks like Spragan is having a bad year.
Zach Thomas - 38 tackles (152 proj. over 16 games)
Channing Crowder - 26 tackles (104 proj)
Donnie Spragan - 9 tackles (36 proj)

Zach's no weak link but he's being misused on defense. He should be out in coverage with Spragan rushing since Spragan's bigger although slower.

yea he was nevr good in coverage. always got burned by TE's b/c of it and did u notice in yest game with the bears how Urlacher deflected a PASS in the endzone to the TE and barely got his finger tips on it and he is what 6 3? zach woulnd't have gotten close to it at 5 10

keith newman or adams would be better in my opinion. but yes zach is struggling, doesnt matter what his stats show. you are constantly seeing him get ran over and knocked on his asz

Only way Zach is a weak link is if he's on the Pro Bowl team. He's still the best LB on this squad and still a good LB against the run. He's always where the ball is and that's all we can ask for. Zach's underrated in terms of coverage. There are a lot of LB's worse than him in that dept.

I think that is the problem right there - that Zach is still the best LB on the team. What has this team done to build up their LB's since he has been here? Crowder is having a soph slump I hope because he has made Zero big plays. Spragan is an absolute waste - why we stick with him is ridiculous. Zach cannot cover the better TE's in the game - he will continue to get exposed IMO. Watson will abuse him if they get that matchup this week. If our backups cannot break into this lineup that we are in big trouble. IMO the LB's have been the biggest disappointment. We expected the secondary to struggle early but the rest of the D to pick them up until they jelled. IMO the biggest mistakes are using Holliday at DT on run downs - he is too small - and our OLB's - they have done almost nothing. Crowder must lead the league in tackles 5-10 yards downfield.

I agree. Holliday should be at the DE in a 3-4 set with JT at OLB on run downs. Gives us the size advantage we need to run it. Crowder will shake it off eventually and he's the type of person who should be doing what Zach's being forced to do. Newman or Adams need to start producing like the veteran LB's they are. Spragan should be at best a situational LB and STer.

crowder has never shown signs of being a play maker other then a tackler. He will be just a solid player till he shows otherwise someday.

He did a pretty good job rushing and covering so I guess that might count. I actually want to see Pope find his way into the lineup. He's performed well when subbing for Zach when injured.
