Don't bet against Berlin

Whats with all the Berlin love lately??

It's still a longshot, but I have to say I was encouraged by this quote:

"Obviously, I'd like to have the last throw back," he said [of his interception in Monday night's game]. "I'd like to go back in time. I need to be smarter with the football. I have to learn from that [mistake]."

Brock Berlin impressed me a lot in the game. He played a lot better than AJ Feeley, thats for sure. Brock Berlin will be awesome in 4-5 years from now. Gus will be gone in 5 years, AJ will be gone at the end of this season most likely, and Sage may go elsewhere.....so look for Brock to be a future guy...he is pretty damn good if u ask me, he's very underrated. Id play him with the 2nd stringers next game, then the 1st stringers against Pittsburgh to see how well he can do...he has LOTS of potential. If i was Saban, and i had to cut ONE of our QBs, id cut AJ and keep Berlin on the squad.

Agreed as of today

I thought Berlin did surprisingly well Monday night. BUT as a diehard Cane fan, I know that though Berlin sometimes shines under pressure, the second he starts to get comfortable, he's throwing to the defense. He may mature into something on the practice squad, but who knows?

Look at it this way, Feeley played against the first string defense, Frerotte played mostly against the second string defense, and Berlin played against practice squad scrubs. If he plays that well against first teamers, then we can start talking.

Let's not start crowning Brock Berlin just yet, but I do think he's worth a shot to keep as a number three over Sage.

Let's face it - Sage isn't going to do anything for us. Why keep teasing the guy. Let him go somewhere else and see what he can do. Brock is probably nothing, but he does have the tools and could develop someday into a solid QB! So why not give him a shot.

I mean - if we really have to depend on our third-string QB this year, we are in for a world of hurt. So why not give the spot to a young guy who COULD develop into a solid QB someday, rather than give it to a guy who is simply taking up a roster spot.

He looked awful out there vs the bears. The interception was a horrible throw into double coverage in the endzone down by 3. NO EXCUSE! a qb can not play a team out of the game and that is what he did. He dose not have good arm strength, he is not a leader, and he isnt the smartest apple in the bunch, give me our three and cut this bozo!

I can not believe what I am reading.

BERLIN? GIVE ME A BREAK. He had on good drive. He was in for the whole fourth quarter. Did he do anything before that last drive? - NO

The simple fact about Berlin is he does seem to play REAL WELL out of the shotgun. HOWEVER, he is AT BEST mediocre when he goes under center. Forget him doing well against 1st teamers, lets see more than one good drive. AND even that ended in an INT.

o u mean like when feely single handedly lost us the broncos game at the end of last year by throwing a pick for a td, and then fumbling the ball the next drive to completely blow our chances? yea, i thout so.
