RealGM.com - Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress reported exclusively to RealGM that the Orlando Magic have offered Miami Heat free agent Keyon Dooling a three-year $9 million contract.

Givony learned of the offer on Wednesday evening from a source with knowledge of the negotiations.

Dooling, who has averaged 5.8 point per game over his five years in the NBA, has yet to accept the deal, as the Nets are also in the running for his services.

Dooling was selected by the Magic in 2000, but was traded to the Clippers on Draft Night.

The 6-3 guard out of Missouri became a key member of Miami's playoff run last season.

Givony also reports that signing Dooling could open things up for the Magic to deal Steve Francis, who has been the subject of trade rumors this summer. Givony's source indicated that the Lakers are one of the teams reportedly very interested in acquiring Francis and that Lamar Odom would not be included in the discussions

No. He was ours to begin with.

Ah but he didnt have much of a rep in the league being with the Clippers until last year with the Heat. Before that, he was just some point gaurd playing with the hopeless Clippers.

Well now he can come play for the hopeless Magic.

smfh @ Dooling getting offered the exact same contract Miami & Damon Jones are negotiating. That's funny.

Earl Watson is much better & has far more starting caliber potential than Dooling, and you can have him for practically the same price. I saw something about the Magic trying to sign Dooling to set up a Francis trade. You want to give Dooling a chance to start? As an NBA fan, not only a Heat fan who enjoys watching Dwight Howard flourish, I sure as hell hope not...but as a Heat fan, I sure as hell do. Good luck watching a player who dribbles for 23 seconds then puts up a shot out of his range. Also, I've never seen Dooling pass the ball on a fastbreak, even when it was 3 on 1 or even 2 on 1. He's a ballhog to be honest. He's been one since he transferred over to Dilliard High, a Broward County basketball program aimed around just "giving the ball" to their top players(Broward sports suck btw...proudly saying this as a Miami Norland Senior High grad with Carol City High affiliations :D ).

Trust me, Dooling is not that bad, but he certainly isn't worth more than the $1.6 million LLE. Pray that New Jersey offers him more to backup Kidd.

I believe he is in NJ as we speak!
I believe he left New Jersey without a deal, although his agent is still willing to speak with them. That is the best fit for him, because he wouldn't see much PT behind Jason Kidd. I admire Dooling's heart, but I sure won't miss seeing him dribbling the shot clock down, completely avoiding Dwyane Wade who is calling for the ball.

But he's a product of Stache Van Gundy.
