I have never started a thread on here before. I like to read and mull over the points being raised by sage contributors and add a comment if I feel it adds worth. However. The continual doom and gloom over our 'refusal' to spend the cash on a #1 corner at all costs in free agency is getting on my nerves. The quick fix mentality does not work. Look at the Jets if you think throwing money around guarentees anything other than a depleted gap space.

The front office do not work on a week by week basis. They will be setting the platform for a development of the team that will progress year on year until we have a solid unit that regularly makes the playoffs. We will not be going after players willy nilly in free agency but building from the draft. That is the Parcells way and at his age he is unlikely to change this because we have fans who want it now with no regard to the cost.

A team is built and not thrown together. If you want proof of that answer me this... Who were the last team to buy a Superbowl. I cant remember but I know a few that have been built, the Pats and Steelers to name but two.

So lets have a coke and a smile and chill the F*&^ out. Keep the faith and fly the flag.

Ok, so I'm with you. To an extent. I agree that championships are not generally "bought." But I don't think that bringing in a corner would necessarily constitute an attempt at "buying a championship." In your honest opinion, would you be content with going into next season with a rookie corner+ our current corners? If that is the course chosen by the front office, I support it, and will be optimistic. But in my very feeble attempt at making a football observation.... we need a corner in free agency. Not going crazy over it, just a bit worried.

I understand where you are coming from, BUT, between free agency and trades it is really hard to keep a team together no matter how long they try to build it.. Teams winning the S.B. and playoffs are usually torn apart the next season because the monetory value of most players on that team just shot throught the roof. Sometimes you find the gems from college that impact the team from the get go. Then there are players that take a couple of years and by the time they are playing up the level they need to be, poof!! They are on another team. I am not saying lets go spend all the cap room on FA but man, sitting on our hands and letting all the good players get signed and showing no interest is driving me NUTS!! McFadden being signed to AZ pushed my panic button!! I do Know that teams are paying a S@#T load of money for some of these players and it may be worth it. I look at it this way. The team drafts a player second or third round, team pays lets say 4.5 mil for 5 years. May take 2 years to feel the flow, has a good third and fourth year, Fifth year another team offers him more and he is gone OR, we pay a fifth or sixth year player 6.5 mil for 3 years and you instant player production for 3 years. Last year The FO made a major error in judgement (Wilford). Some players aren't what they may seem, but the draft is no guarantee either(ALLEN) ON that Note, opinions are Like a@@holes, Everyones got one..

We need a corner before the start of training camp. Our secondary has driven me nuts for the past few years but I believe that improving the D line and getting pressure on the passer reduces your need for elite Corners. I think this is the direction Bill and Co will be going. That said we need a corner but it wont be the end of the world if we get one in the draft and through the usual trades during and after the draft.

I agree on Wilford but the others they got in seemed to come thro' OK. The draft can sometimes be a crap shoot but again we can only base it on this regimes history and last years was quite good.

sometimes nothing is something & a lot more, especially concerning bad moves in the NFL
