Today was a difficult loss to take. New England now jumps in front of us for now. Now we aren’t necessarily out of it but it will be difficult to make the playoffs. The current standings right now have us at 8 behind New England, Indy, and Baltimore. Buffalo is behind us with the same record so that game in two weeks is critical. Lets take a look at our wild card contenders and their future schedules.

Indianapolis: Current Standing depends on result of tonight

Week:

13- at Cleveland
14- Cincy
15- Detroit
16- at Jacksonville
17- Tennessee

Overall, they could be out of it with a loss to San Deigo because they have a game at Cleveland, which could be tough, and Jacksonville could play spoiler. Tennessee is a good team also.

Baltimore: Current Standing is 5th.

Week:
13- at Cincy
14- Washington
15- Pittsburgh
16- at Dallas
17- Jacksonville

Overall this team seems more likely to be out of it then Indy. They have a tough remaining schedule. Two NFC East opponents and Pittsburgh. Hopefully those three are what makes them a 9-7 team.

New England Current Standing is 6th

Week:
13- Pittsburgh
14- at Seattle
15- at Oakland
16- Arizona
17- at Buffalo

Overall, This is a pretty legit schedule they have to face. The Raiders can be spoilers as they have beaten the Jets and whipped Denver today. Seattle contended with Washington today. Arizona is definitely a team that can take care of New England. Our season could fall into the hopes of the Buffalo Bills. Tough game to win at a tough place to play.
Miami: Current Standing 8th

Week:
13- at Rams
14- at Buffalo
15- SF
16- at KC
17- at NYJ

Overall, many think this is an easy schedule but really it is more difficult than some may think. Rams fell apart today and we could face Trent Green at QB. That should be a win. IMO the Buffalo game is the last straw. We lose, we are done. Buffalo can still jump ahead of us if we keep losing. We need that game more than anything right now. SF is a little bit tougher but we should be good. KC is a tough place to play so that will be huge. Then our season could come to our favorite place and our favorite team…..J-E-T-S. We might need to win to get in and that’ll be real difficult. If we want the playoffs, we MUST win 4 out of the 5 games. That would make us 10-6 and I cannot imagine us being 10-6 without a wildcard birth.

Thoughts????

I think that we need to win 4 of the next 5. We lose two, were done. We lose one and we got a shot at not making it either. Buffalo and NY Jets are HUGE games, but the other games are definentely trap games, and are as important. But 4 of the last 5 should get us in.

The biggest problem is NE has one remaining division game (Buffalo) If they win that, we are forced to have to either win against both Buffalo and NYJ, regardless of what we do against the easy teams. Because the Patriots would be 4-2 if they beat Buffalo in week 17 in the division, while we are sitting at 2-2, in order to tie them we'd have to win both games.

Also, Indy as of right now has the tiebreak over us due to conference play, and so even if we tie NE in overall record and division record the Colts could leap both of us for that last spot..i believe that's how that works.

I'm not gonna lie, it looks bleak. 10-6 doesn't guarentee us anything, especially if we don't win both remaining divisional games. all of these other teams in the hunt have comparable schedules to ours.

In other words we need to win out. 4-1 especially taking another divisional loss will most likely put us out.

The only thing that gets us in is if we win out and that's truely a stretch considering we're one year removed from 1-15. We have glaring weaknesses on defense and can only cover them up for so long before another team exposes them again like NE did today.
The best thing about that remaining schedule is the hardest game left is vs NYJ and they may clinch before and rest old man Brett, they're the hottest team in the division right now.
If we only win a couple more games the rest of the way this has still been a great year and we are going to continue to improve.

I just want the New York game to be meaningful. I said 7-9 before the season and that was me being optimistic, this team has gone beyond all of our expectations. Winning out is realistic but at the same time anything can happen.

Let's beat the Rams first.

10-6 most likely isnt going to do it. We are most likely going to have to win out. This blows.

I dont really think we have to win out. Even though Indy gold the tiebreaker now, it doesent mean theyre going to win the rest of their conference games. At 10-6, we should be fine, since upsets happen, and not everyone beats who they're supossed to beat.

If we want the playoffs, we MUST win 4 out of the 5 games. That would make us 10-6 and I cannot imagine us being 10-6 without a wildcard birth.

For what it's worth, since 2002 eight AFC teams have finished 10-6 without winning their division, and six of those were wildcard teams.

The way our defense is playing it won't matter, in fact the best thing that can happen to the team, now that the offense is finally solid again, is that they miss the playoffs because of the defense, so in the offseason we should pay 90% of attention to our HORRIBLE defense. We need pass rushers, run stoppers a #1 CB, a #3 CB an a Safety. And ST players!!!

I am glad San Diego gave another game away....put Indy in the driver's seat for the WC along with the Ravens. 10-6 may not be enough to make the playoffs this year.

We were one of them. The bottom line is that the playoff picture is sorted out by who you've won against. We're really not in a position where we have an advantage over any of the other teams that are looking to go 10-6, in fact Baltimore would automatically go in ahead of us. If the Pats go 10-6, they are probably gonna get in ahead of us. The fact of the matter is that we play the weakest division in the AFC and we lost the only important non-divisional game in the conference. 10-6 seems like a playoff record, but in a year like this its likely not gonna be good enough on its own.

I'm not gonna lose hope, but today is what it is.

i cant believe that we could possibly go 10-6, 11-5 and still not make the playoffs if the other teams play well.........I don't know if I can watch another dolphins team winning 10 games and missing playoffs or winning 9 missing out by a game
