From DE (Langford and Merling) to WR (turner and hartline) to CB (Davis and Smith)

One thing has become apparent, this regime feels strongly in the theory of doubling up at positions of need. 3 times in 2 years, its pretty likely it'll happen again this year as well. Now, im wondering which scenario youd like best for doubling up in the 1st and 2nd rounds:

1st sceanrio (doubling up in the secondary (again))
Trade down to 14 (the seahawks will be interested in trading up for Spiller or jumping ahead of SF for one of the OT's) Pick up their 3rd rounder and Select Earl thomas, FS with the 14th pick. Then with our second rounder, select Taylor Mayes, SS at 43 to cement our secondary for the next decade, young but athletic, strong, and fast. You have Smith and Thomas the ball hawks with Davis and Mayes imposing themselves and being physical.

2nd scenario (doubling up at OLB)
With the 12th overall pick, the dolphins select Derrick Morgan, SOLB. He meets all physical requirements and passes the eye test. he is great against the run and has a solid pass rush. Then with the 43 pick in the draft, the dolphins select Jerry Hughes, WOLB. Can Wake cover? is he a 3 down LBer or a 3rd down specialist? Hughes falls because of how many LBers there are in this draft, he slips through because of Graham, Morgan, Weatherspoon, and Kindle.

3rd scenario (doubling up on offense)
This isnt quite doubling up but essentially it is because of how unexpected it is we go offense. We trade Ronnie for a mid second rounder and draft CJ spiller with our first pick and Demaryius Thomas at 43, (obviously the rest of the draft would be for defense)

EDIT- Which scenario do you like best? Add your own but dont make it too unrealistic!

Personally i would like to double on Safety and give Mayes a half a year to learn under the 32 (i think) year old Bell. Our secondary would be scary and we can still adress the front 7 quite easily.

My mock using that scenario: (trade Smiley for a 5th)
1st- Earl thomas, FS
2nd- Taylor Mayes, SS
3rd- Jason Worlids, SOLB
3rd- Thad Gibson, OLB
4th- Joseph Linval, NT
5th- Mike Williams, WR

Its funny you post this because I was thinking about this just today. I like #1 because I am sick of seeing Miami's secondary get burned time and time again. We are in a pass happy division and confrence that demands stellar secondary play.
That being said I would not be opposed to #2 because you can take a lot of pressure off your secondary with an aggressive pass rush.

The Three Positions i can see us doubling up at the most is WR,OLB,NT

  please explain! OLB i completely agree with you but at WR, we have our #2 in hartline and our slot in Bess, we are missing one piece. At NT, we already have a guy who will get good playtime in Soliai, why draft 2 more? We have 2 on the roster, that makes 4, when only one can play at a time? doesnt make sense to me..

Coverage Sacks? :) number one is beast because we can still adress the front 7 very well, imagine Mayes, Davis, Smith, and Thomas in the secondary? with worlids/gibson stopping the run, Wake rushing the QB, Soliai and Linval rotating, Starks and Merling on the edges and Dansby and crowder in the middle??

Reason I say this is because it seems to be our FO will double up untill that position is good also we have enough room on are team for one reciever and I see Ginn or Cam getting traded so there you go we draft another. Also Soliai is decent but I see us taking two NT just to make sure that need is filled up.

True, im talking about more of the high profile doubling up, 1st-4th rounds.. There is bound to be some doubling up with our 3 sixth rounders and 3 seventh rounders, i get your point though, and agree. JW, out of my scenarios, which do you like the most?

Oh I see yes definately for OLB I was doubling up NT with a earlier pick and a late pick but Reciever I can see us drafting a early Reciever and a Mike Williams or even like a small college reciever in late rounds.

double up will 100% be on OLB...NOT FS, NOT WR, NOT RB, NOT NT...those will be 1 picks if that.

Dez Bryant and Mike Williams is who we will be doubling up on and Jason Worild in round three and Justin Cole in round 6 or 7

I like it but then again i dont, if we get dez, mike shouldnt be the pick till the 4th at the absolute earliest, hopefully we can get a 4th or 5th for Smiley and use that pick on Williams. though it has huge possible rewards, both guys have pretty damn big personalities/egos, and have a ton of baggage. Id rather something like Dez and Jimmy Graham or something..

i would love to see us double up with B. Graham and Jerry Hughes and then take a later ILB like Spikes or Micah Johnson! imagine if this was our linebacker crew for the next 7 years
SOLB: B. Graham
ILB: Karlos Dansby
ILB: Crowder/Spikes or Micah
WOLB: Jerry Hughes/Wake

Dez in the first Worild in the second a FS in the third Williams in the fourth and Cole in the 6 or 7
